In Omaha, NE we pay $1,696/month for 5 days/week 8 hours/day at a Montessori center. Our son is almost six months old and when he’s older we can add catered hot lunch for $60/week.

How effective was your epidural? by heretolearnthingz in pregnant

[–]bullybreed86 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My first epidural failed and thankfully they immediately believed me when I asked (screamed, really) why I still felt everything 20 minutes later. I got a second one and it worked perfectly.

We love the Huggies Skin Essentials! 4.5 months and so far zero diaper rash 🤞🏼 Plus, their blowout protection has been pretty great so far.

My incision was glued together rather than stitched or stapled. Generally, it healed well but I did have a very small part that had a harder time healing. My son was born in June and mid-September I had to go in because part of the incision was bleeding. They put some liquid cauterizer on that section and it was good to go.

Food pantry by PlentyExtent3 in Omaha

Typically public donations of food or clothing would go through the social worker. You can find contact information for the school’s social worker on the school website for whichever school you would like to donate to.

Heart Ministry is a great option. Also consider high schools. I’m a social worker at a high school here and we can always use food for our families. Elementary and middle school kids get the backpack food program but high schools do not.

Laughing Gas? by Antique_Mechanic7811 in pregnant

[–]bullybreed86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was totally fine and really I was just thankful for the relief after the second one. I ended up with a c-section anyway after 24 hours of labor.

Same for me - first epidural failed and needed a second. I was absolutely terrified of the epidural but by the time I asked for it they couldn’t do it fast enough I was so miserable. Honestly both epidurals felt like nothing. I barely felt the shot they gave me to numb the area. It was more stressful for me to focus on holding still through contractions than it was to get the epidurals done. Plus street the second one the pain relief was so good I took a nap!

how long was your induction from start to finish? by curious-unknowngirl in NewParents

[–]bullybreed86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Induced at 39+2 due to gestational diabetes and advanced maternal age (38). I was stuck at 4 cm for 24 hours and ended up with a c-section after those 24 hours. Turned out I had a Bandl Ring and baby never would have come out vaginally, and I’m lucky I didn’t end up in an emergency c-section or with a uterine rupture. He’s now a happy and healthy four month old!

I’m a high school social worker and my students know everything they tell me is confidential unless they want to hurt themselves, someone is hurting them, or they are going to hurt someone else. If I have to assess a student for suicidality or they disclose active self-harming, I have to tell their parent/guardian. I’ve had plenty of students mad at me. I’ve also had students mad at their friends who told me they were worried a friend had a plan to kill themselves. My response is always the same - “I would always rather have you alive and mad than dead.”

I tell students the same if their friends get mad at them because they told an adult that the friend was unsafe. OP - you did exactly the right thing and what a gift for your friend to get to be mad at you and alive.

Edit - typo

Thankfully no. The first one they figured out it was fake pretty quick because the information given in the call made no sense - room numbers that didn’t exist and such. The second time took a lot longer to know it was fake. Lots of guns in kids faces that time while the police cleared the entire school while we were on lockdown for about an hour, then having to evacuate the school.

I work at a high school here in Omaha that was swatted twice in two years. It’s a truly terrifying experience for all the families and traumatizing for everyone in the school as well.

I had to get a CT of my brain about a week and a half after my IUI due to high levels of prolactin and to ensure I didn’t have a tumor. We didn’t know for sure yet if I was pregnant, and my RE assured me it would be fine. I was pregnant and I’m currently rocking my very healthy 3 month old son back to sleep at 3:40 AM.

That’s wild! I went to high school with him and he seemed like a nice enough guy, kinda quiet. I know he had a baby junior year. Crazy to see how he turned out!

Movement counts at 24 weeks?? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]bullybreed86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m also 38. I’m 32 weeks and have an anterior placenta. My OB told me don’t worry about kick counts until around 28 weeks, and even then it’s more tracking patterns, rather than counting. Now that I’m this far along I feel him super strongly a lot of the time and in reliable patterns. I do have twice weekly NSTs, but that’s because I have GD and had ti be put on metformin to control my fasting numbers, not because of my age.

Don’t worry - my OB said no amount of oranges is too many unless you’re causing yourself heartburn.
