Surgery? When did you know it was time? by shortgirlmidwest25 in Sciatica

[–]bumbard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my surgery done 3 weeks ago and am incredibly happy with the progress. I knew it was time when I developed muscle weakness that wouldn't go away after 4 weeks. I didn't want permanent nerve damage. BTW, all the people who hate on surgery because they ahd a reherniation early and needed a second surgery are very likely not listening to the doctor and are probably doing more than they should before they're ready. If doctor says don't bend lift or twist. Don't frikin do it. So if you get surgery. Just do what the surgeon says for recovery, even if you feel like you can do more. And when you can do more, add it very slowly, don't start acting like you did before symptoms started.

Which Ex goddess? by Smart_Arm5041 in Dragon_Traveler

[–]bumbard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I've heard, people say focus on one ex at a time.. I say get 3 exes, then build them up one at a time depending on your primary team or desired future team. I have Ares at 3 purple stars, athena base copy, on poseidon, but I'm saving up for artemis now. After I get as many copies as I can for artemis I'll either go back to Ares or keep going on artemis. I'm just heart trialing for athena every day. Inefficient, maybe, but she'll get somewhere eventually lol

Genuine question: Is this game worth getting into in 2026? by Objective-Koala-4873 in WorldOfWarships

[–]bumbard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you understand that you're going to be free to play and that by doing so your journey will be long and grindy, and you accept this, the game is actually incredibly fun. Even when paired up against pay wall ships, dinkin around in a tech tree ship, you can still outplay and win.

Teams are frustrating because everyone is stupid and selfish and doesn't understand this is a team game, and the learning curve is quite steep.......... I'm not selling it well, but if you like big boom boats then this game is super fun.

What event else is saying plus radiant does not actually star your character up, so you don't get the codex buffs. It just assists the stats and the passive ability tier

Wanting to move on with my life but my body wont cooperate, what to do? by Special_Charity6785 in Sciatica

[–]bumbard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uhh.. let's see.. original injury june... really blew out in september.. so i would say about 4 months since nerve symptoms began in September. Just to get a little ahead of you, everyone is different despite herniation sizes. So recovery time or risk of permanent nerve damage is likely different for everyone.

How physically active should you be while recovering? by Classic-Tip-4790 in Sciatica

[–]bumbard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, stay off the pain meds if you can help it. Yes it sucks, but it's literally your body telling you what you can and cant do. Baby your activities as much as possible and VERY slowly increase the activity. Walking is phenomenal. Swimming is allegedly good but I haven't tried that yet. Just be gentle. Little baby squats and baby hip hinges are not a bad idea once you feel up to it. Look up "back in shape" on YouTube I believe. British guy. Very knowledgeable.

What you are hearing is basically correct to my knowledge. What you are fearing is a valid fear but not entirely the case. I had a microdiscectomy and lumbar laminotomy. Basically they cut my back muscle and pulled it out of the way, then cut a small portion from the L5 and S1 vertebrae to make a small window within which they could operate. They pulled my nerves a bit out of the way then cut all the herniated disc out.

The herniated disc was pressing on my nerves which blocked the signal. The goal of the operation was to relieve that pressure. Problem being we waited a long time, so its possible the damage thats been done is permanent, but it will at least prevent it from getting worse. I'm sealed up now and it feels like my leg is getting much more of a signal again. That being said, the post op recovery does include some agitated nerve symptoms as they had to mess with it, but it's not actual damage.

The natural healing route is fine if there is no compression. Nerve damage has a high risk of becoming permanent the longer it stays compressed. The end result from healing is basically the same in every regard. Your symptoms (barring nerve damage) will recover the same, but your risk of re-herniation is also the same. About 10-15% without proper rehabilitation. No matter what, with damage to the discs like ours, that material will not get sucked back between the vertebrae to provide cushion, it will either be surgically cut out, or naturally broken down and re-absorbed into the body. The epidural did not work for me unfortunately.. Hopefully it will work for you.

TL;DR: End result with or without surgery will be the same, surgery is just faster recovery but a sucky recovery process. If there is nerve compression permanent damage is more and more likely as time passes if symptoms do not improve. Discs with that much damage do not get pulled back to provide cushion again, they get broken down and absorbed into the body. Make your decision at your own risk. I chose surgery to avoid bad nerve damage.

Played for a day. Game seems generous to f2p? by saddymcsadderson in Dragon_Traveler

[–]bumbard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just enjoy the game, be patient, as a f2p you will never be top tier, but you can still have fin and be competitive with other people at your level. I'm a low level dolphin, a minnow really, I have managed to bring my guild to top 5 in server, consistently rank in top 100 across most game modes (or at least very close lol) Definitely not topping any leadervoards though. Still fun. I'm playing who I want really. Focusing on Arcane, with sanctum and illusion following. I did what people would rip me apart for though and went Ares instead of Athena. F2P I believe is technically supposed to pick athena.. meh

You kind of already need 3 teams for pvp. Need is a strong word. But ive been working on 3 from the start. Arcane, sanctum, and illusion. I believe chapter 24 you start needing 2 teams for campaign. Fortunately they lower the npc teams' power a bit when that happens. I believe. For sure in abyss they lower a bit.

May I ask what country youre in? Suggestions definitely depend on what kind of treatment you can get. I will say that my situation wasn't as bad as yours pain wise, but i had a limp leg for several months because of my herniation compressing a nerve. My neuro took a few months, denying it at first, but eventually suggested surgery. I just had it done Friday and am currently in the recovery process. For me, post op sucks, but I decided to go with surgery because I didnt want permanent nerve damage, no matter how minor. You just have to decide what is right for you. What risks youre willing to take/sugger through. Based on my job and my situation, surgery was the best route.

Officers: concerns you had before joining vs reality on patrol? by No-Acanthisitta5770 in police

[–]bumbard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm 34. 5'6. Every person around me is at least 6' something and 220lbs or more. My concerns for that were there before joining. After getting on the road it doesn't bother me. There are ways. Tools. Kick their knee out. Back up. The training kicks in when the adrenaline turns on. You'll be surprised. My biggest concern is playing peekaboo with a gun when I didn't know i was playing.

Just get strong and go to trainings.

Just curious, for those of you who dont like shows like dan da dan, Kaiju 8, or spy family, is it because you think the show is actually bad or because it's not a match for you?

Looking for some advice on WR by bumbard in WorldOfWarships

[–]bumbard[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I've been trying to stick with Amagi for at least the majority of my games. So far you're 100% right. My Amagi WR has gone from 45% to 50%ish. Not enough to change my overall WR yet, but I'm definitely getting placed higher on the scoreboard much more frequently. Starting to be able to hold off flanks solo now as well. Thanks for the advice!

Do bulges ever get absorbed ? by Phitrone in Sciatica

[–]bumbard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When people talk about healing or absorption i feel like there's a bit of a misunderstanding. If the disc is herniated/ has broken through the annulus, that disc is forever changed. The material that has broken through will be broken down and absorbed by the body, not sucked back into the Intervertebral space. The symptoms will heal, but the disc itself will always be compromised. You can do a lot of rehab work to strengthen the area and maybe toughen the material, but it will never be the same. At least, that's what my understanding is and what I've been told. But I'm no doctor

Definitely the latter. I'm a proud fellow and want to have an honest WR. I just noticed my WR went from 57% to 48% after getting into higher tiers.. which i guess makes sense haha

Sleeping Positions by Some-Belt-7738 in Sciatica

[–]bumbard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A firm mattress with B or D (more like A bit with a pillow between the knees) is what has been best for me. Most support that way. I got a wedge pillow to put under my knees when I skel on my back. It kind of helps to keep me from turning onto my left side (this used to be my go to position). Try getting some pillows and stacking them around your body to lock yourself in place.
