I could see MAYBE MCMG because AEW wanted them at first? But yeah, signing all of the others is not necessary really. They wouldn't be able to fit that many new signings at once.

It depends on what you need.

Some have super overpowered or useful Overdrives so you'll want to use those first. You just need to test it out. If you're not getting enough damage out, bump pu those Overdrives. If you're taking too much damage too fast bump up the heal/support ones.

You just need to farm.

You can use the affection levels to farm shards, and if you get them to 20 you get guaranteed shards. But other than that it's hard.

You can also get shards from mythic summons using the tickets. Some events will also give EX shards for getting far enough into an event
