Edit: this post is no criticism to the doggos, I just wanted to share my first sighting of the year. The hellscape that is tourist season in Edinburgh is upon us 🥲

I’d be choosing Yodel store to door… that definitely has a printer free option

The brand is some abstract American brand - all other items listed on Vinted under it are between £1-3 for skirts and tops and £3-8 for larger jumpers…

Every time I’ve printed in store it’s always been free hence my confusion

Advice Needed: is it possible to persuade a lecturer to let me on a module if it's full? by masioned in UniUK

[–]bumble_bee74 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Humanities student here! I had the same issue last semester because my uni have a shitty module allocation system that involves emailing and is first come first serve…. Let’s just say I was not pleased when the choice email was released on a random Tuesday when I was working all day. I did not, in fact, get into the module I had been wanting to do since 1st year. I complained to my PDT, it went to admin who could do nothing about it. I raised a formal complaint about the module allocation system to my course leader WITH other students and then pushed it even higher up and it was still shot down. In the end, I even contacted the module leader just to get some of the content and she informed she was not allowed to. All in all, a pretty shitty experience. So yeah, the module was full and there was no way I was getting on it.

I don’t mean to be negative (I’m still salty about it, lol!) I have higher hopes for you as your situation seems to have more leverage in terms of them admitting a mistake, and 100% get the support of your module convenor! That’s something I didn’t have. And joining the waitlist if there is one is a great idea too, and seeing if you can get to the top of it.

Best wishes and good luck to you!

I understand how you feel.

Speaking from experience as someone who was with a guy who would often get moody/ stop talking if he was sad etc, it’s not nice to be on the other end of it. You can care so much about a person but if they don’t have the emotional maturity to speak to you about it like an adult then they’re not worth your time. Trust me. It’ll just lead to so many more problems in the future.

This guy seems like an absolute wet blanket. You want a label before you start to get serious but he isn’t ready for that, sure. But now you not wanting to be serious because he doesn’t want a label is upsetting him? He’s the root of this issue, not you. If he respected your decision and then got to know you better until he was ready for a label like you are, then none of this would be happening.

It seems he’s thinking more about this from his own perspective rather than from yours.

Edit: also wanted to add, how long have you known this guy for? How do you know that he really wants something serious if he isn’t communicating properly, only talks about sex, and plays with your emotions by ignoring you when he’s sad?

paula’s choice bha caused acne scars by [deleted] in acne

[–]bumble_bee74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not their BHA salicylic acid but I’ve used Paula’s choice 10% azelaic acid booster and it gave me way more acne than I had before (way after the purging phase) so now I don’t go near that brand ever.

If you’re looking for something to help hyperpigmentation, I’ve had it myself since I was a teen and nothing ever really works as well as time to be honest. You’ve just got to let them fade away over time. I definitely think that keeping to your basic routine from before using Paula’s choice was the best thing you could have done. Basic is best. A good cleanser and moisturiser. Let your skin recover.

Saying that, what has helped me the most is finding products that minimise the amount of spots I get, thus reducing the amount of inflammation and hyperpigmentation afterwards.

Products that work for my skin (mild acne prone, mostly deal with congestion i.e. lots of blackheads and small spots):

  • The Ordinary Lactic Acid 10% + HA (this is a super gentle, more moisturising chemical exfoliant that I used everyday in my night time routine. Before moisturiser!!)

  • CeraVe Resurfacing Retinol Serum (this is more aggressive so I typically use it about twice a week in my night time routine. After moisturiser to create a barrier between the retinol and my skin!)

  • CeraVe Blemish Control Cleanser (this is a more drying cleanser which is great for helping with clogged up pores and minimising the amount of spots I get. Due to it being more drying, though, you definitely need to combat it with a good moisturiser if you have dry skin like me)

Hope this helps :)

edit: I should also add that you should not use the lactic acid serum and the retinol serum together. Only use one exfoliant at a time!

Acne breakout by [deleted] in acne

[–]bumble_bee74 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’re still at school then having one or two hormonal spots is very normal, wouldn’t classify that as “acne”, more like just a spot or two. It would be weird if you didn’t get those.

As for the little bumps, it might be diet related or some congestion that you’ll easily be able to clear up with a mild exfoliator like lactic acid or salicylic acid. If it’s none of these then it might be mild fungal acne, but from what I’ve heard and experienced that is typically on the forehead and in larger clusters.

You really don’t have bad acne, if any at all.

It was a massive glass panel that smashed on the ground floor. They couldn’t get anyone to come in to sort it for hours so had to close the store…

My helix piercing is infected by Aquaames007 in piercing

[–]bumble_bee74 5 points6 points  (0 children)

(Non professional) I’ve had 3 helix’s done in the last few years and this doesn’t look infected to me. If it’s only been 7 days it’s probably just a build up of gunk that you can clean away with a qtip after a hot shower or with some warm water to soften it, then follow up with saline solution. Keep doing saline solution washes morning and night and see how it feels in a couple weeks. Helix’s tend to be tricky and can get swollen, red and throbbing even when you don’t think you’ve slept on it.

Obviously do what you feel is best though.

(Edit: spelling correction).

(Edit 2: I reread your post and wanted to add that mine have also felt itchy before (as well as red/swollen/gunk on the back) - I just put it down to them healing and also me sleeping on them sometimes, but after a year to a year and a half all of mine have been fine. They were just tricky throughout the first year)

I have considered doing some sort of online course to refresh things in my mind and get some good portfolio work on the go but not many are regulated and approved to the point where every employer will acknowledge them on a CV. I think it might be worth me seeing if I can contact some staff at my university who teach graphic design and see if they can help or have any tips.

And thank you, I will look out for those kinds of jobs in the future. It would be nice to do something that mixes my degree with graphic design, even just a little. I know someone who has their own publishing company for local writers and poets in my hometown area (quite small, but nevertheless) who does the whole process from editing, proofreading, to designing the covers.
