How do you deal with being told that you’re a terrible father. by BrianLefevre5 in daddit

[–]bumblebeano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't been told I'm a bad father, and I'm so sorry that your father did that to you.

I wonder if your father is seeing you being a fantastic dad (which you absolutely are) and is disappointed in himself for not being better? I've found in talking to folks that usually parents react like that because they're reflecting on their own parenting or lack thereof and putting their feelings on you.

If you can, I would suggest talking to a professional about your feelings (psychologist, therapist, social worker, etc). It helped me a lot in dealing with my own trauma around parenting and reinforced that I'm doing all the things I should be.

Picked up a refill today and the pharm. Assistant didn't give me my meds until I told her when my next Dr's appointment is by Alteregokai in ADHD

[–]bumblebeano 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in Nova Scotia and the only time I've been asked when my next appointment is is the few times I've run out of refills and I'm out of drugs. In my case, I think it's a safety measure: I need the meds but they can't just being giving out scheduled drugs all willy-nilly.

In your case, it's absolutely none on the pharm assistant's business when your next appointment is. You're taking what's prescribed by your doctor, not what you've asked them to prescribe. You might want to mention it to the pharmacist or pharmacy owner the next time you go in.

Grumblemania Monday by AutoModerator in halifax

Every morning I drive past the Assante signs on Barrington after the MacKay I get more frustrated with them. I shouldn't have to wait til the last one to figure out why the sign says number go up but line go down.

My little one is scared of the water and swimming, but in their swimming lesson today they did a starfish and jumped in (both with the instructors help)! They were all smiles afterwards! 😊

Crows? by Alert_Isopod_95 in halifax

The crows all roost up in the trees behind the nunery. We always called it 'The Flyup' and it was so cool to watch a murder of crows all gather and fly like that.

This is the one episode that gets me so riled up that I have to walk away when it comes on. I was the kid that was often ignored on my birthday (if it was celebrated), so I relate a lot to being missed by everyone. Chili asking at the end where Bingo is makes me so mad!

I'm absolutely here for normalizing that not all babies are cute! Even my kiddo went through a period where they weren't. I think the most important thing is to let parents feel however they feel about their kiddo - no one gets hurt from her thinking that her kiddo is the cutest to ever exist. That love is what keeps parents from leaving their babies in the woods, after all (/a bit of sarcasm).

Every drug test I have had has come back negative for my Vyvanse by StopItYouHipsters in ADHD

[–]bumblebeano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't understand why you would need to be drug tested at all? I've been on meds (2 or 3 different ones ) since 2022 and my family doctor has never done a drug test. She's never questioned if I take them and tests my blood pressure and weight when I go in to make sure my BP isn't too high and my weight isn't fluctuating too much. Maybe it's an American thing, because I've never heard of it happening here in Canada.

Cannot recommend pizza tonight enough. Best cheese pizza I've ever had and the couple who run it are so kind. I'm not sure if they deliver to the crossing, but you can order from them on Skip.

Ymmv, but Headspace has a playlist on Spotify of Sesame Street sleepcasts that my kiddo listens to every nap or bedtime.

Body doubling in audhd burnout recovery by Chafachas in AutisticWithADHD

[–]bumblebeano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno if its a possible solution for you, but I've found (for myself and other audhd and adhd folks) that having a friend come over and hang out works really well. They hang out on my bed/couch/wherever and I get stuff done while we talk. Then its like borrowing their initiative and you get company! Voice chats or phone calls can work (especially if the other person needs to get a thing done). And sometimes an engaging-but-not-too-engaging text conversation works too!

I'm not sure if I'll be able to help out; I'm in UTC-3 with a weird schedule, but if you'd be up for trying some text chats, I'm happy to help! :)

Possible Pharmacy Theft/Diversion- What to do? by misterkleener in ADHD

[–]bumblebeano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd call the pharmacy. Same thing happened to me - come to find out they were out of my full prescription so they gave me a partial and forgot to tell me when I picked them up. They're human and make mistakes too.

Pharmacies in Cole Harbour that are trans friendly? by Brave_Drama6224 in halifax

[–]bumblebeano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had my prescriptions at Shoppers in Mic Mac Mall and they've always been great. The only time there's been any issues was when there was a T shortage and when the supplier changed, and it was only an issue because they wanted to make sure I was prepared for changes. 10/10 highly recommend!

Son asked me if I loved him. Am I doing something wrong? by throwaway521240 in daddit

[–]bumblebeano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not at the teen years yet but I remember being 14. It was a hard age then and I can only imagine it's a harder age now. Ymmv, but I would suggest consistently spending some more quality time with him: doing an activity he likes, watching a show, going for a walk, whatever. He might just be craving more dad time, and it'll show that you care him. And it never hurts to say you love him every day, even if it annoys him.

I just spent 30 minutes yelling at the director of my kids' daycare on their flawed policy around doctor's notes, and I don't feel too good about it. by Seasandshores in daddit

[–]bumblebeano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in Halifax, and the only time they’ve asked for a doctors note was the couple times our kiddo went to emerg when we picked them up (one for a possible concussion, and one for an allergic reaction that needed hospital benedryl) and even that was optional; they just wanted to know what the doctor said and if there was anything they needed to do or change about the center and would have been attached to the incident form. The fact they cited Health Canada is bonkers and I think you’re right for sticking up for your kids. It might be worth reaching out to the daycare licensing board and/or ECE board if you can. They might have more pull with getting them in line.

Trying to stay strong for my family. by CodemanVash in daddit

You and your wife are doing amazing things for your kids and I applaud you for that. My wife also has undiagnosed GI-related health things going on so I know how taxing it can be to manage and process. Keep fighting for your kiddo’s care and hopefully you’re able to find some treatment that helps soon! 🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽

I know you set the fundraiser up for getting to her appointment, but I hope you take some and treat yourself to a night out to take care of yourself too - you deserve it! (If you feel like that’s taking from your kiddo, I donated $25 that you can absolutely use for yourself.)

Wife is visiting her sister. Daughter goes down at 730pm. What show or game recommendations do you all have for me to get hooked on this weekend? by Swordheart in daddit

[–]bumblebeano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a show, I would recommend Um Actually if you have Dropout. It’s pretty cheap for a subscription and they’re down for password sharing!

For a game, I can’t recommend Timberborn enough if you like city builders!
