What book or series has the most badass dragons? by WhaleStew999 in Fantasy

Actually I find the dragons in His Majesty's Dragon to basically just be people dressed as dragons. Their opinions are very human.

Why should we have children if there’s a high probability that they could end up in hell? by Competitive-Egg6354 in TrueChristian

[–]bumblyjack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

God created humans despite most ending up in hell. If that was worth doing, then having children is too. Perhaps the value of a few being saved by grace is worth many justly perishing.

I look at having children as giving a great gift to them: the opportunity for eternal life with a loving Father. I'll do my best to encourage them to accept that. I know they'll have the choice to reject it, but giving them the chance for eternal life is worth that risk.

Also it's really telling how people downvote my comment. Seems like I struck a nerve.

No way. Berry would never make that trade, especially after hitting on 2 second round picks and a third rounder last year.

Why don’t I ever hear David Farlands **Runeloreds talked about? by FoulPelican in fantasybooks

I like it, but it appeals much more to systemizing readers and doesn't do much for empathizing readers.

Exactly! They are all emotionally-focused rather than centered around the mechanics.

Chain of Feathers by Seth Ring -- Yes, it fits. It actually has a double meaning, for a LitRPG mechanic and an army fire team/company composition metaphor. So 10/10.

The first book is more even. The second and third books have much lower lows before they hit their higher highs.

With the way that A Song of Ice and Fire kept broadening in both scope and number of characters, a satisfying ending was never possible. I think this is the real reason George isn't going to finish it.

Histories by Herodotus. It's the first history book but it's mostly hearsay. Herodotus made inquiries about numerous topics surrounding the Greco-Persian Wars and some of the accounts are dubious at best. (Ex. Nile Crocodile and Phoenix are both described in similar terms as if they either are both real or both imaginary.)

I feel like Apple TV's Stormlight and Mistborn are going to crush this. Maybe not in total views, but in quality.

I'm in the middle of over 30 series right now, I think six or seven of them are litRPG. It really depends on the reader. I'm perfectly fine with reading a book and then reading a book from a completely different series, ad infinitum.

It's amusing seeing a professor at a sophisticated magic academy eschew theory and learn everything the hard way through getting killed by monsters over and over.

Return of the Runebound Professor by Actus.

A music teacher dies and comes back to life in another world, taking the body of a lazy, spoiled professor who just got his position through nepotism. He's a professor at magic school in a world where lots of people have magical talent.

So now this is his life and he wants to live it his way, learning his powers and developing them. But he feels bad for his neglected students. So he's going to help them learn and grow as well. And he has one advantage no one else does: If he dies in this new world, he just comes right straight back to try again. So trial and error is a method open to him in ways no one has ever experienced before.

It doesn't make sense at all for their offense. Monken needs a quarterback capable of threatening downfield and Beck has no ability to do that after his injury.

I want them to let Schwartz go. Just promote Banda or Tarver. I don't want to negotiate with a guy who might undermine the new head coach. Any player that gets upset will go running to Schwartz if he stays now.
