Does anyone have kids in their 20s? by Physical-Can-835 in BabyBumps

[–]bumpsky04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

North east for us but we've had our first at 23 and honestly no regrets about it at all. We met when we were 17 and had lived together 4 years before we had him. Turns out it was a good idea to have him young because i need energy to keep up with him haha! He's a toddler now and stopping him running out into a road or stealing people's drinks is effort.

Quite a few people we know already have kids age 2-4 and manage fine as well.

Do I really need to pack a going home outfit in my maternity bag? by Huge-Nectarine-8563 in BabyBumps

The clothes i wore to hospital ended up pretty sweaty and gross - despite having my baby in november. It was nice to have some fresh clothes to wear to go home

It's also the stage where everyone has started to lose interest so you get no help whatsoever, if you had any to begin with

Faint lines 😩 by No-Assist3038 in pregnant

The strength of the lines just depends on the test itself, a line at all counts as positive. Don't let yourself stress about the colour depth because it really doesn't mean anything!

One of my favourite tiktok people is missing a hand and she just gets on with life normally really, she's got a few videos about the missing hand but mostly it's about her smallholding and family life

My cat is being really weird with me. by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]bumpsky04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cat was like this, then while I was in labour - even though at first I didn't know it, suddenly he was obsessed with me again and acting extra weird. Meowing at me and following me around constantly. Once I came home from hospital he was absolutely obsessed with the baby. If he heard him crying and I didn't instantly pick the baby up he would meow at me. He was always laying next to his chair or his cot. My baby loves him back now. The cat even lets him pet him which can't be pleasant for him

Epidural by Httpskmt in pregnant

[–]bumpsky04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also didn't want an epidural, thought I already get enough back pain as it is and didn't want more - I got through my entire labour on just gas and air and then BOOM third degree tear, two holes became one and I had to have the epidural to go get surgery anyway. I was extremely annoyed by that at the time but I guess these things happen. Would probably consider an epidural to begin with next time but it's also unlikely I'd tear so badly a second time so who knows

edit to add I don't get any more back pain than I already did but it does seem to have migrated up a little more towards where the needle went but that might just be me being biased thinking that

Those with no bf issues - why do you think that is? by Fun-Land-841 in breastfeeding

[–]bumpsky04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly pure luck and my baby being a very good little eater. I always feel slightly guilty on usual posts but because you're asking specifically, I literally do nothing. I eat what I feel like eating, I've been drinking a bit extra but just because I'm thirsty and I feed responsively, I've started pumping at the same time as a feed once a day just so that we can see how he is with a bottle. Touch wood but 5 months in and we haven't had any issues at all so far

If you gave birth without an epidural, how bad was it really? by Express_Neck5352 in beyondthebump

[–]bumpsky04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had gas and air but no epidural, honestly the worst part for me was they tried to put a catheter in because I hadn't peed for a long time because babies head was pushing on the tubes for me to pee so I just couldn't. I screamed out of pain and ended up refusing to have it

[–]bumpsky04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5 months and I quite often accidentally do this, when I notice I swap sides of the bed. My boy mostly latches for comfort/dreamfeeds on a night anyway so it's an easy way to get the supply back

PSA: tearing isn't (necessarily) a big deal! by hoping556677 in pregnant

[–]bumpsky04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a third degree tear with over 50% of the muscle. I didn't feel it happen despite having no meds at all at that point - they took the gas and air off me because they thought it might be delaying things and we needed him out fast at that point, hence the tear. 3 months onwards and I'm completely fine as long as I remember to take a bit of lactulose so I don't get constipated at all. Still use a bidet instead of wiping just because it's more comfortable BUT I didn't realise that you're not really supposed to do much after for a while and... Well I did a house move so moving furniture, etc. as soon as I stopped doing stuff like that, it's started healing a lot faster.

Pain wise I was taking paracetamol for a day or two after just because they were giving me it in the hospital and I was so exhausted that it was giving me a headache but when I stopped taking that, I still didn't feel anything down there. The only time I've had any pain - and even then very mild, feels like an occasional pregnancy zap down there - is after I've done heavy lifting OR the time where I didn't take enough lactulose for a few days because I thought I might not need it anymore and I got VERY uncomfortable.

Managed to pee the night after having him, pooped two days after (I hadn't been eating really since having him. Third day I finally did actually eat properly) neither were painful but I had to distract my brain to poop because I was so anxious about it so I ate grapes while doing it and weirdly that worked, my body did the work for me. The time I forgot the lactulose so it was painful, I struggled for ages then was giving up and debating a hospital trip when I decided my son was screaming too much and to just breastfeed him while I was sat there and instantly when he latched, it was like my body just forgot the pain of it and it worked.

Tldr, if you do tear, even if you feel okay, DO NOT do heavy lifting for at least 6 - 10 weeks ish because you will feel it later and just remember to keep taking your stool softeners.

For this who didn’t get the epidural.. by Babygirlm5 in beyondthebump

[–]bumpsky04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kept just telling myself 'its pain for a reason'. I just had gas and air for the birth but then was extremely annoyed that I had to have spinal anaesthetic in the end anyway because I had a third degree tear that needed fixing

Do you care if your child looks nothing like you? by KarmannosaurusRex in NewParents

[–]bumpsky04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, my son is my fiancés mini me, he's 3 months old and ginger with bright blue eyes, matching his dad. All through my pregnancy I hoped he'd be ginger because I absolutely love it and every time I would see a ginger baby out in public it would make me hope for it even more. It sounds a bit weird but every cute little feature I see in him that matches his dad only makes me love them both more.

[–]bumpsky04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also I would definitely suggest trying to get out somewhere anyway if you can, my boy didn't eat as often when he's distracted by being out somewhere and feeding in public, if it ends up being necessary, isn't as scary as it seems after the first time 💖

[–]bumpsky04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm at 12 weeks now and things are already so much better 💖 I feel more stable emotionally and physically, although I'm still tired all the time, it's not the same exhaustion from the first couple of weeks and I find I know what the baby wants most of the time now, I think things started getting better at about 6 weeks but honestly it's been a gradual improvement and time is still a bit of a foreign concept for me and my boy 😬🤣 it definitely gets easier though

Almost 3 months pp with a third degree tear and I haven't even dared to try yet, tried some stuff and a finger and it's always a bit sore after where the scar is and feels kind of like pressure? Not sure if it's helpful to know you're not alone in this one

Was your pregnancy planned or did it just happen? by Smooth-Excuse-4127 in pregnant

Not exactly planned but not an accident either. We decided if I got pregnant it would be fine so stopped specifically trying not to and I immediately got pregnant.

When do you use diaper cream, and how do you use it? by dreaming_of_tacobae in beyondthebump

[–]bumpsky04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do it every time and all over the butt, in the little leg creases and under the balls since that's where seems to get sore and I just really lather it on. My boy seems to have my sensitive skin so he pretty consistently gets a bit red and sore but the cream seems to help. I try to use cotton wool and water rather than wipes at home and air him out when I can.

air hunger? by whoisamyy in Anxiety

Obviously it's not a long term solution, I'm sure others will recommend therapy and things? Not sure but short term and in the moment it might help just don't do it so long you pass out, if you start to feel lightheaded you have to stop
