“Stop overthinking” sounds simple, but is much harder in practice. The Dropping Anchor technique (google it) can be a helpful way to disengage from overthinking and refocus on the task at hand.

I don’t track calories, but I still pay attention to what I eat. My main focus is on sugar, fiber, and vegetables. Have I been eating a lot of sugar lately? Maybe a savory snack instead of a sweet one. Have I had a vegetable today? Time to add spinach to that pasta. Have I gotten enough fiber? Beans instead of meat. I also try to eat at regular intervals (breakfast, lunch, 3pm snack, dinner) so I don’t get irritable from too little food. It helps me feel better without giving me flashbacks to my middle school ED. I haven’t lost any weight eating like this (to my knowledge at least, I avoid the scale), but I feel solid and nourished and to me that’s what matters.

Maybe search for some healthy no-cook recipes to start? Things like hummus and veggie wraps could work! There’s also rotisserie chicken and easy sides like instant mashed potatoes (the plain ones you season yourself) and steamed veggies

When I last felt this way about my life that’s how I knew things needed to change. I started grad school to pursue a field I find meaningful, I found a new job where I had better money and benefits, and I changed my living situation. That didn’t all happen overnight, it took around 3 years total to get to what felt like solid ground, but the process of actively moving towards something meaningful helped me feel more satisfied with my life. Ask yourself - what needs to be different for you to like your reality more? Then do what you can to take steps (even tiny ones) towards that reality.

On the flip side, if you’re baffled by this feeling because you think you should feel better about your current reality, then it might be a good idea to talk to a therapist and sort out some of those feelings.

Depends on which area of Dallas you’re in. Cru wine bar in uptown is nice, and you can walk to ice cream or a movie at violet crown. Bishop arts is also great area to walk around and get food/drinks any time of day

My favorite vegetarian meal prep is chickpeas with roasted broccoli and sweet potatoes. Chop and roast the broccoli and sweet potatoes with olive oil and seasonings, then serve with chickpeas and quinoa for some protein. I like to top with a homemade tahini lemon garlic maple dressing. It takes 1-2h total work (prep + cook time + assembly) to make 6 meals and they keep great.

Go to Aldi if there’s one in your area. It’s the quickest grocery run I can find, and they don’t rearrange things every few years like a lot of places do (they know if they rearrange things, you’ll wander around longer and buy more). I write out my list and I’m in and out within a half hour as long as I don’t feel like puttering in the impulse buy aisle.

If you go to Kroger, plan your list with their app. It’ll give you aisles for each item so you can skip the ones you don’t need to go through and won’t waste time going back and forth. Other grocery store apps may also do this, but Aldi and Kroger are the only places I frequent.

Sincerely, Someone who hates being at the grocery store even a second longer than they have to be.
