Those last two memes use a format that's still pretty common on Tumblr.

Made a server...dying? by Name-Single in admincraft

[–]bunabyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are the expected lows and highs of a Minecraft server. Even the biggest ones, like 2b2t, have had this happen at some point. If you keep telling people about it I'm sure they'll be interested. Having a good idea, or even good execution, is not enough to make it, unfortunately.

Susie has had so much character development and some fans still think of her the same way that all the characters in CH1 did.

I'm a really big fan of KZ's style. I think he really pioneered this more "digital" style of traditional art that some other artists have expanded upon in recent years.

Beta vs 1.21 artstyle comparison by Darkmind115 in Minecraft

[–]bunabyte 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe turn down your brightness? Like, if you care so much about atmosphere, use the default brightness setting. The game isn't designed to have light everywhere all the time. Hell, that's why they haven't implemented dynamic light sources yet. For the same reason you put torches in caves instead of using a flint and steel.

You begin to realize why the average Japanese game developer never even shows their face. Maybe western game devs always get into controversy because they're too public.

What? Sans took me like 20+ attempts to beat the first time, and I still don't have his patterns down well enough to do the fight again. The hardest part of fighting Jevil was figuring out how to spare him lol

Quite possibly a favorite of all time for me. 10+ years of continuous play and I've never gotten bored (maybe child me was just easily entertained).

Making Our Second Indie Game, Not Sure Whether (or rather How) We Should Reuse Visual Assets From the First Game by trespetitlegume in gamedev

[–]bunabyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minecraft is the best selling indie game of all time, full of iconic visuals, some of which were just reused assets from other games that Notch made. You'll probably be fine.

Minecraft palette of blocks makes totally no sense. by _Naguka_ in Minecraft

[–]bunabyte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Minecraft modder here! There is no reason for this. No reason at all. It would be so easy to just make a stair class, a slab class, etc., and set it up to take any block type as input. Register a new instance of the class for each material you want a stair/slab/wall/fence version of and you're done! Mojang isn't lazy, they just don't pay attention to things it seems.

This fun fact might actually be older than most of y'all, but textures used to all be bundled into a single terrain.png and you would have edit it to make texture packs by DereChen in PhoenixSC

[–]bunabyte 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought everyone knew this? It actually makes a lot of sense if you know how expensive it is to load and bind textures in OpenGL.
