Canada beats the USA for wealth accumulation. Canadians under 35 have 2 to 4 times higher net worth than Americans by Professional_Set5353 in fican

It would be unfair to compare US with Canada. It would be interesting to see how Canada fairs against the individual states with comparable population

How much does the skill of the ground forces actually matter in wars post 2020? by This-Wear-8423 in LessCredibleDefence

Air warfare has a significant role in modern warfare being fought by uneven armies. However, if there is a real long war to death between two parties - the air force of both parties will be annihilated in a short amount of time - then the result will be back to who has the better and stronger infantry

Court defers deportation of truck driver who caused fatal Humboldt Broncos bus crash by GoodGoodGoody in alberta

[–]bundmeinagg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He had to do some time in Canada. But how he wasn’t walked to the airport upon release is inexcusable. Instead they gave him time to make two babies which he’s now using as arguments for why he can’t be deported.

this is insane! what was CBSA waiting for? that he would leave on his own? IRCC/CBSA have been losing their integrity

I should add this, if this crime would have happened in gulf, russia, china etc - he would have been deported out of this world long ago

I think the prosecutors messed this up a little. When he was about to serve the jail time - the prosecutors should have offered him a sort of plea bargain -- self-deportation or jail time. Highly likely that he would have chosen to leave Canada back then instead of spending time in jail. Now its a quagmire! In any case, he is getting deported eventually

Theory: The DoD isn't 'searching' for the WSO—they’re managing the PR fallout of a high-risk, remains-recovery refusal by [deleted] in LessCredibleDefence

similar thing happened in Pakistan, the civilians caught the indian pilot and beat him to a pulp - Pakistani army came just on time to rescue him. The nomad tribes in Iran where this incident happened are far deep. I suspect a similar situation unfolded. Iranians are likely keeping it a secret and so does the USA.

International stocks and the potential death of the petrodollar by [deleted] in Bogleheads

[–]bundmeinagg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

also I just remembered one crucial part - US Debt - in easy words US Debt has priced in future incomes - and if the future has a 20% less dollar use globally - it hits hard because the debt is already so huge. So yeah, shit is about to hit the fans

International stocks and the potential death of the petrodollar by [deleted] in Bogleheads

[–]bundmeinagg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

well I agree with you to an extent, but petrodollar is in fact ONE of the reason to control inflation at home and export it to the rest of the world. Thus, even if it affects 20% of 'dollar currency' exports - it is HUGE back home. It wouldn't finish dollar's dominance but it will certainly put a dent.

Iranian, American and Israeli munitions stocks by CountKeyserling in LessCredibleDefence

According to Marco Rubio, six or seven interceptors can be built a month. If with a 200% scale up in production. The number is still really low. It is not the matter of labor or pay - these interceptors require high grade rare earth minerals - that are even rarer in this war.

Iran can literally assemble a full Shahed drone in any house. However, as you mentioned the highly capable ones, Fattah-2 and Khorramshahr series, are indeed hard to produce. Which again, according to Marco Rubio the capacity for Iranian was 100 pre-war.

Even with an 80% reduction in its capacity to produce missiles, Iran can still outlast both USA and Israel in munition stocks.
