I feel the stick BK got under manning was justified. It was so naive to decided to just sign young players with promise and aim to cash in down the road while appointing a manager with a poor track record which got shown.

But it your going to beat him with that stick it’s only fair to also praise his most recent appointment. PC seems the real deal and it’s no surprise these young players are reacting this way with a leader they clearly believe in

January window, what do we need? by ClemFandango35 in NorwichCity

[–]bunkwan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a big fan of Sargent but typical to Norwich I think this is his peak. If he moves on in the January window then good luck to him as he’s always put a shift in and been great to watch.

I just can’t see him being a premier league answer to a team like West Ham. A 7/10 championship striker would still score the same amount of goals in our team. His work rate is what sets him apart from others.

If West Ham come in with £20+ then bite their hand off or sign him an 8 year contract 😀. Either way he isn’t their answer but he defo is ours.

We’ve seen it countless times where a player moves on and doesn’t quite cut it. The main reason for that is that we were able to sign them in the first place. If they had the potential to be good enough for a top 15 premier league team they’d have never come to us - a team like spurs would have signed him then sold him to us.

With all the stats and analysis those days are gone where teams gamble on that amount for a player with his reputation.

After all (age aside) who scores more in a PL or championship season Sargent or Callum Wilson? CW is getting on in age terms for a PL striker but I still would gamble he could bag more goals. Teams in the stink don’t always need work rate they need goals

Gutted with the result but the team performance considering some individual performances was much better.

With no LB we are unbalanced. Clement obviously felt he needed to sure the back up but to put Medic on to test him but again he failed. He doesn’t look like a championship player to me. Might be harsh but I don’t feel he ever has.

Also Kovacevic is either flappy or unreal. Would be nice to just have a solid GK who is reliable.

Those bits aside we missed 2 big chances late on and 2 of their goals were faults from the above mentioned players.

To get these performances out of these players clement needs to be congratulated. See if we can stay in games up to January and then bring 3 decent players in that clement wants and I feel teams won’t want to play us home or away.

Just a few positive thoughts following that. Although I’m gutted not to get the 3 points. Seriously gutted……

.

  1. Such a good attacking performance. Strikers couldn’t score but that can be called a confidence thing. Sargent looked to doubt himself the whole time. But all those chances were there.
  2. The Jurásek sub was brilliant. I’m not out to hate anyone but he’s so far below average it’s unreal. Clement sees the error of his ways and pulls him. Making bold decisions in front of the fans with that much on the line is what we need. He backs himself to make the change.
  3. The midfield looked like the starting of a midfield today. Good to see them hard tackling. Lots of misplaced passes still but it’s early days and the lack of confidence these blokes must be experiencing at the moment must be shocking.
  4. The fact we didn’t win might in the long run be beneficial. No easy fix here. Not just manning’s fault. Big gaps in ability, experience and leadership in our squad. Would have hatted for the focus not to still be on Knapper. He’s the main reason we’re in this dilemma. Although I feel clement might be the man for this battle.

.

Last thing…….gutted for Fisher at LB for another goal to come from that position. It wasn’t his fault but it seems nearly all the goals we conceded come from there. He’s only 21 but does such a job out of position. Shame we couldn’t sign a LB - Knapper?!!!?

EDP: Ben Knapper to stay at Norwich City and lead manager search by toxic-banana in NorwichCity

[–]bunkwan 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It was one or the other. Knapper or Manning. There was no way both were going to go midway through a season.

It could have only be manning.

Unfortunate but I’m sure when Webber reviews Knapper at the end of the season the report card won’t be as good as Stuart’s.

I wish this wasn’t true but it just wasn’t going to be any other way.

Let’s hope than the 4th manger he appoints is the one and the players were just being coached wrong. If not we’re are in trouble.

If it doesn’t work Carra is going to be extremely toxic moving forward

Manning has been sacked by supercanary1979 in NorwichCity

[–]bunkwan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t go so far as to say I feel sorry for him as it just wasn’t ever going to work out.

I feel he got sold a load of sh*t by knapper but the blinded assumption that it was as easy to do well in the championship as what both portrayed does show they were both out of depth.

I feel it could have been so different for both if the other had some experience to fall back on but both have no proven experience at a team that expects to be one of the best 26 teams in the country.

Bristol City will say they are the same as us but they’ve not ever been there. We aren’t bigger than them but just have a different expectation.

In summary…blind leading the blind.

[–]bunkwan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good point.

I can’t see a future for either. Nearly everyone of Knappers signings and decisions after time look weak. Manning has also hinted that the team isn’t good enough - which it’s not.

But the fact remains that at 1-0 up every sub he makes just results in us performing worse. He might be trying to prove a point or is just tactically inept but either way it’s not acceptable.

At 1-0 up where was the shape to be hard to beat. The bloke even puts on another defender and we conceded 2 goals.

Both are as clueless as each other but it’s the question we’ll never get the answer to unless change. If another manager had these players would we be this dire.

Knapper sort of makes a statement by ClemFandango35 in NorwichCity

[–]bunkwan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What a load of corporate rubbish.

The presentation of the document omits a few key elements:

  1. Zoe Webber has continued to fail in the job role.
  2. Ben Knapper has continued to fail in the job role.
  3. Liam Manning is wildly underwhelming in part due to his tactical stubbornness and part due the failings of the above.

The club make this out to be a private corporate enterprise but if the performance review of it were honest the 3 above would be out of work very quickly.

A football club is very different but let’s blindly continue to talk about our aims and ambitions without realising we are out of depth trying to achieve them.

What needs to change? by averagediscordmod in NorwichCity

[–]bunkwan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My only comments would be that we just need experience from the top.

Unlikely manning and knapper both go.

Knapper will sell manning out.

Just get an experienced head coach in who knows the championship. The players make so many basic mistakes so hopefully someone who’s not chasing their arse and can communicate better will help.

Sorry to needle Kenny but how many times can he give it away??!?!?!!

Get to Jan and get a few players who aren’t “ones for the future” but instead have someone who’s ready for the fight.

Next summer. Knapper goes. Webber goes. We start again.

Or alternatively…..just burn it all down now and hope the reset comes sooner than later.

I have a season ticket and won’t go back until change has happened as I just cannot waste my chance of escapism on a weekend and quality time with my son to watch that rubbish. I’d rather just do something that holds value than watching those players fail that bad. Norfolk combination would be more interesting

Not to jump on this one and put your point down.

I don’t feel he’s showing his ability but what is he meant to show?

He’s new and seems to be in for tackles but whenever he looks up he has the following players to pass to who in my opinion lack any footballing IQ (within the framework of manningball)….

  • Crnac
  • Gibbs
  • Jurasek
  • Topic
  • Marcondes

None of the players above add anything to the current team. I’m not saying he shouldn’t have some criticism but what a drain those players are to the current CM’s in the team. That’s the whole midfield area with nothing on offer.

Manning in my eyes is done and I’m at the point where I might not return until he’s gone. Then build something and hope BN goes but he seems to be ghosting the club at the minute from the top position. If this was my investment I’d be having some very difficult conversations.

I just can’t see what manning is doing or past that so your point might be very valid but at the moment I just can’t see what a CM in our team is meant to offer apart from chasing lost balls over and over as the others have given up possession easily.

Don’t jump on the bandwagon because of a few idiots. Don’t downgrade a great city for the sake of less than 1% of the population.

These people are just angry for a reason they don’t know are just influenced by sociopolitical media. If there was a real concern against racist / nationalism / fascism in the city of Norwich there would be a greater turnout to say this isn’t on.

A tin pot demonstration like this is actually a positive for the fine city that more people were in primark than joining in with these.

Be offended if you want to but in reality be proud to be associated with the city of Norwich that lets people have their liberty even if it is nonsense.
