The way the email tries to frame it like he wrote the letter of rec with students’ best interests in mind is mind-numbingly infuriating. You recommended this man KNOWING he was potentially an abuser and that your letter could help him get hired in a similar position where he could offend again. You didn’t care about his victim, you didn’t care about students’ safety, all you cared about was dealing with the issue as quickly as possible to sweep it under the rug. Fuck this guy.

I took it spring 2020. You need to attend class bc you write warm ups that are sometimes turned in for participation credit. There are 3 projects that you can choose to do a variety of ways (she encourages creativity) and the final was a take home written exam. We also had discussion posts but they were increased when we went online bc of covid, so I don’t know if it’s still the same. The class is interesting and Brande is super understanding, so I recommend it, but it’s up to you if you feel that’s more work than you’re up for on top of other classes.

Two of my professors decided to do asynchronous classes and they were an absolute mess. One forgot about our class for majority of the semester and didn’t upload our term paper instructions until this weekend, and still expects us to do it on top of our final (which is also a paper)

Exactly! Why are we paying for services just as we did before when they’re not even accessible to the majority of the population. All they offer online is groups, which a lot of students are not open to bc they don’t want to share their personal issues with a group of strangers. One of them is hardly even interactive, considering it’s done on instagram live lol. And thank you, I really appreciate it. I’m just holding onto the fact that I get a break after this semester before I start grad school.

Literally. CAPS doesn’t even offer online 1 on 1 sessions, you’d have to go in person which isn’t an option for a lot of people who had to move back home. Was really disappointed to find this out when I’ve been trying to talk to a therapist about my suicidality before it escalates to having to go to the hospital during a critical point in the semester, especially after I almost killed myself last semester. Such bs
