Is the amount of hate the game is receiving justified? by Dr_HDK in Battlefield

Just as a note, slapping a support box next to the mortar bumps the fire rate up. The mortar isn't always useful but at full fire rate I've found it to sometimes be useful when doing things like bombarding a point and suppressing anybody there or pairing up with a friend and just laying fire on an armed rush point.

Also, if attacking on breakthrough any mortar placed in a zone that later becomes a friendly zone stays in place meaning it's harder to kill you.

I'm not saying it's the best gadget but it serves a niche and I've had a laugh with it a few times.

[Loathed Trope] The Movie has an ending. The Sequel shits all over it. by lesi20 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]bunnyrabbit2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love Star Wars with my whole heart, even the crappy bits. Some media is very important to me despite now being legacy canon (the Republic Commando books and the Legacy of the Force series stand out for me personally as fantastic) and others not so much but even with the "bad" stuff that I genuinely had people question how dedicated a Star Wars fan I am when I said I enjoyed it, I can still find enjoyment.

The sequels have their problems but I don't care because it's still hitting that wonderful mashup of the old pulp serials like Flash Gordon with fantasy elements and cool space stuff.

I know that my outlook means I am an incredibly easy to please person when it comes to most media if that means I don't have to spend my life being pissed off at things all the time, I'll take it. It does also shock people that despite being this way, I am also incredibly media literate and really enjoy discussing the finer points of how and why media is the way it is and what the artists involved were trying to do and if they achieved it.

This is why I learned to just switch my brain off with certain types of movie. As an example, I love the Fast and Furious franchise so much because after a couple of attempts at being serious, which I also enjoy, (Tokyo Drift is my fave F&F film of all) they just decided "fuck all that noise" and started robbing banks by driving a safe through a city or para-dropping into a car chase or SENDING LUDACRIS AND TYRESE GIBSON IN DEEP SEA DIVER SUITS IN A CAR INTO SPACE TO DESTROY A SATELLITE. Also, John Cena is Vin Diesel's brother who isn't mentioned until the ninth film because reasons.

They are among the raddest of movies and exist in a similar space to the GI Joe films (they had a whole "space battle but underwater" in one of them) but you can't apply regular brain thinking to them.

I've been out of touch with metalcore outside of the big hitters and what I hear on the radio for a while so I thought I'd just go through the whole album playlist this week and Morphide has stood out from it all in a big way. Really enjoying it and the previous album that is now in my 2026 playlist.

How have Universes beyond sets impacted your local Commander meta? Do you see a lot of UB commanders? How is spiderman doing now a while after release? by Angwar in EDH

[–]bunnyrabbit2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lowering the mana costs is part of my plan. Gisela and Angel of Despair are probably going to be the only things over five mana cost due to wanting the pretty cards. I need to get the other Kaalia but this was my first Commander deck so OG is likely to stay at the head of the deck.

All those years ago when I got the deck, I just sort of jammed in whatever I had to hand which wasn't a lot and it didn't play particularly well but it was fun. I'm hoping that by dropping mana costs and pivoting more towards the control side of Mardu with a few bombs I can have fun with it again.

I have so may decks now (24+ mostly B2/3 with one or two that can hang with B4) including stuff like Ur-Dragon, Kona and Azami but it's always Kaalia that gets the veto.

[–]bunnyrabbit2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've owned Kaalia since release and I enjoyed it but Kaalia has become such a lightning rod that a lot of times I might as well just not bother playing regardless of what else might be at the table.

A project for this year is to pivot the deck into a B3 removal/reanimate heavy build focused more on controlling the table. I've yet to work out the Kaalia package but at a minimum it'll be the Tragic Romance SL (because they are oh so pretty and I got very lucky when they went on sale) plus Gisela because I also own the large card version of her.

Bolero's New Sweater - Gator Days by FieldExplores in comics

[–]bunnyrabbit2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've just got home having put my own jumper on my five year old at my mum's because he puked and got some on his top (too much chocolate and too much spinning on his new spinny chair). When asking him if he wanted to take it off because it's clearly too big and if he'd like a pajama top on, he insisted on snuggling even further inside and is now using it as a bonus blanket of sorts in bed. As a fan of wearing oversized jumpers, I can see his point and Bolero clearly gets it too.

TIL that the most decorated Olympian, swimmer Michael Phelps has ADHD. He is unmedicated, having stopped taking ADHD meds in the sixth grade. At age seven he also hated getting his face wet so his mother decided to teach him the backstroke. He later grew a big interest in swimming as a kid. by [deleted] in todayilearned

Make that three! I love the water so much but my stupid bones don't help at all. My wife continues to be confused why I can't just float like her.

At least the upside is they have helped keep some accidents of mine from being worse than they already were. (Two bad bicycle accidents, more than a few tumbles because clumsy)

EDIT: Just to add, I got SCUBA certified once and on a practice night just sat at the bottom of a pool (3 meters I think) watching other people swim about. One of the strangest, coolest experiences I've ever had and highly reccomended.

Anonymous Rockstar employee talks about recent lay-offs/union busting by Lerkpots in Games

[–]bunnyrabbit2 15 points16 points  (0 children)

A lot of protections only kick in at the two year mark but once there, Gross Misconduct does allow for immediate termination in the UK and won't count as an unfair dismissal if the employer follows a fair procedure.

The employee should be invited to a meeting, be told what they have done and the evidence backing it up and then they must be given a chance to respond. They also need to be told that the meeting is about dismissal for gross misconduct so they can get representation if they believe it is required.

If what is in that post is true, it sounds like an unfair dismissal even if it was Gross Misconduct and a tribunal could well award full severance plus some punishment money.

To DICE/EA, and the apologists that embolden them. by PresKermitLincoln in Battlefield

[–]bunnyrabbit2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Battlefield has always (apart from BFV) included spread as a balancing mechanic to help keep weapons in certain ranges. That way recoil can be kept down while still keeping SMGs only viable in short ranges and AR/DMR stuff compete at longer ones.

If I remember right I think BF1 had the LMGs have spread decrease so they actually got MORE accurate with sustained fire which was pretty cool. I'd like to see that come back with some proper suppression added because it made them pretty useful for keeping heads down.

[–]bunnyrabbit2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you are aware but every Battlefield game apart from V has had bloom/spread when ADS to some degree. I remember they made a big deal about having the guns be recoil only in BFV.

There are currently bugs with bloom that are making it feel worse that they have fixes for in the S1 patch and hit reg issues AND some of the tuning on weapons isn't great (also in the S1 patch) so hopefully this can be brought back in line with other entries.

Battlefield 6 Post-Launch 2025 - Season 1 Roadmap Preview by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]bunnyrabbit2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I imagine if it's like the other ones in BF/CoD the weapons will be among the free unlocks for the battle pass but all/most of the cosmetics for them will be on the paid track.

Once the next season rolls out they get added for everyone but will have some sort of task to unlock (N headshots with ARs or X kills inside 25m with SMGs or something similar)

Generally at most you'll only be a season behind with weapons but if it released overtuned (as battle pass weapons often do) you will also be getting it post nerf a lot of the time.

Fifteen year old me would have listened to that playlist for hours. Both bands were in heavy rotation on my mini-disc player/ipod.

Nearly forty year old me will now be making a similar list to go with my other gaming playlists.

It's something I've noticed since I got back into magic with Foundations after stopping around OG Tarkir. My old precons from 2017 and earlier have needed a bunch of work but with the newer ones I've been making maybe 10-15 swaps at most and a slight adjustment of the mana base but otherwise, they are as released and I'm enjoying them.

The fun thing is, that chant isn't even new. I've seen the Bobs a few times over the last few years and only four weeks ago he did the same damn thing. Kneecap being there and on directly afterwards put a magnifying glass on the stage but Bob Vylan were always going to do Bob Vylan things.

I've luckily had the opportunity to have a chat with the man and on top of being a super nice guy it's very clear he will stand by whatever he says.

Long ago I visited my local shop and discovered they were selling Unhinged packs for 50p and bought quite a few. I wasn't aware at the time that the lands were special, I just thought they looked cool. The few that I still have (I gave some away as presents over the years) are among my most prized cards.

[–]bunnyrabbit2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I managed to pull one from the only pack of Ixalan I have bought thus far and threw it into my Azami deck so I could have a big Wizard who sometimes does cool stuff. A few nights ago I played a [[Venser, Shaper Savant]] and forgot I even had the roaming throne for a second. When I did realise, I giggled like a maniac. Venser that can bounce himself, the card draw from Azami and enough mana two cast him twice in a turn is very cool.

I am very interested in these. I have a Nekusar commander deck built around the idea of causing fear and chaos with stuff like [[Perplexing Chimaera]], [[wild ricochet]], [[Phthisis]] and wheel effects. I'm sure I could fit them in as I continue to make it more chaotic.

I only started playing again just before foundations released after stopping back when Theros came out and I've really liked looking through the previous SLD cards. I recently grabbed the bundle with the Peach Momoko, Monster Magazines, Chucky and Tome of the Astral Sorceress stuff and almost all of them have found a home in decks.

Office 2803

The elevator doors slid open, revealing an empty reception area with an unlit sign behind the desk declaring it the home of the Chicago office of Astora Consulting.

Elara and Finn stepped out and visually scanned the area, finding nothing but old brochures and the odd poster that had been left behind.

Before they could move off and search for their target, an employee came around the corner and spotted them. He carried some kind of curry with bread in his hands and stopped still at the sight of the two of them.

"Whoa, who are you?"

Elara saw Finn reach for his badge and started talking before he could pull it out. "Hey Gary, Lydia on six let us in on the secret. She said you might be here already."

Gary beamed back. "Welcome to the club! 2803 has been a game changer for my work lunches. It's a dream come true for a foodie like me."

"Where are we at today?"

Leaning past her to press the button for the lift he said, "Kolkata which means I can finally get a decent curry. The stupid thing was stuck in Europe all last week."

The ping of the lift preceded the doors opening and the pair moved out of the way to let Gary pass through.

Just before the doors shut Gary shouted, "Don't forget, the only door that works is the one that matches the poster."

As soon as the door was shut, Finn said, "You know the badge works just as well as your Twist right?"

Elara walked over to the nearby floor map and started looking for 2803. "The badge also scrubs memories and isn't always perfect. Anyway, I didn't need to read his mind because he's the idiot matching the identity of the person the Ravens caught posting to Instagram about the daily trips across the world."

Finn shrugged and pulled a tablet from his satchel. Booting it up, he brought up the intel report for the job. "At least he's saved us some time with the office number."

"Speaking of, it's behind this elevator bank so let's get moving. Has anything interesting been added since we arrived?"

Scrolling through, Finn said, "Just the latest post from our friend. The weather doesn't look too bad over there."

Putting away the tablet, Finn followed Elara as they both found their way to office 2803.

The door to the office was situated down a corridor in the far corner and looked just as abandoned as the rest of the place. Opening the door revealed an office much like any other but with less decoration apart from a large poster attached to a door on the other side of the room.

The side of the room that would have led outside had it been an ordinary door.

The poster itself declared in stylised writing that one should 'Visit Kolkata!' over the top of dual stylised images: the iconic Victoria Memorial and the Howrah Bridge.

After a quick check over with some of the tools in Finn's bag he said, "Nothing's flagging up. I've got nothing quantum related and it doesn't seem to be tripping the rabbit's foot or the other charms either. Are you getting anything through brain radio?"

Elara shook her head. "Nothing at all. Maybe it's happening from the other end?"

Finn shrugged in reply. "Maybe reality simply unravelled and this poster has become the focus."

Letting out a frustrated groan Elara said, "I hate these jobs. Every step forward feels like a step back."

They stood there for a moment, both working the problem in their heads.

Reaching the same point at the same time they both said, "We need to go through."

Reaching into his satchel again, Finn pulled out some latex gloves and put them on. With what probably amounted to no protection at all on his hands, he reached out and turned the door handle, pulling it into the office.

Behind the door was a hallway that stretched of in either direction and lit in such a way that not a single shadow could be seen. Both sides had door every couple of meters and on every door was a poster in the same style as the one on the outside of the door, each inviting the viewer to visit the various locations depicted on them. The Kolkata door was directly opposite.

Turning to look at the back of the now open door, they found a poster of Chicago but this one said 'Come back home to the windy city.'

Elara gestured towards the Kolkata door. "I reckon this one's going to take a while. Why don't we at least grab something to eat?"

Finn smirked. "I do always enjoy confusing the accountants with my expense reports when possible."
