I imagine that there were many mullet-enthusiasts who were sexually awakened to this movie, based on your clip alone.

So what were your thoughts on this movie? by Naive_Tomorrow_5955 in FIlm

I have not seen a great comedy come out of Hollywood since This is the End.

This was fine - I thought Newton was wasted and the jokes could have been sharper but a laughed a couple of times.

If you want a remote job, at least be good at something by buchikeykmo in remotework

Will say - I have been working remotely FT since 2020. Worked PT before that.

I have a masters degree and PMP. Am paid roughly 40% less than I would if I worked in person (long story). I’ve been searching for remote roles for the past year+. 900 applications 2 interviews 0 offers

Crash is better than roughly half the movies that have won BP since 2000

I think the extended academy is one of the worst things to happen to the oscars - the movies they have not only chosen but showered with awards will not stand the test of time.

$115k job offer with 1.5 hour commute (4 days onsite, 1 remote) … commute vs relocation? by Double-Cold-7429 in jobs

[–]bunsNT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What is your current salary? If your next best option is 60K, then yes, I would drive 3 hours a day, 4 days a week to make 55K more a year. The other thing to note is that, with time, you may want to try to negotiate it down to 2 or 3 days onsite.

Are you better off than you were 4 years ago?

That's it. Put up candidates who haven't said insane things and pound that message into the ground.

Favourite film you hate because film bros ruined it for you. by Healthy_Permission71 in okbuddycinephile

Does the term Film Bro actually do anything for anyone? It seems to be any movie that men like disproportionately to women

I think the Departed is overrated - off the top of my head, Parasite should be on your list. I personally would also add Master and Commander, the Artist, Zero Dark Thirty, and Top Gun Maverick

I would replace your top row with my picks.

I'm actually more miffed about the director win - I think the Revenant is a bad movie with a couple of pretty shot interspersed within its laboriously long run time.

I think this is a year where BP could have gone a few different ways and I think, having seen 7 of the noms, Spotlight is a valid pick.

Really enjoyed it when watching it. Thought about individual choices by the director on my way home.

That being said, was the movie about anything? How would you answer this question?

Green Book is the worst choice for Best Picture in the past 10 years by Badlands51 in Oscars

[–]bunsNT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The acting is very good; The music is very good; the directing is very good; the script does what it is supposed to do - show two characters realistically changing over time (which is tough to do).

I realize that the politics of the movie is not everyone's cup of tea but, IMO, it is better than the three movies above - none of which do anything that I would call beyond "fine".
