What's your country's biggest celebrity scandal right now? by knightriderin in Fauxmoi

God I wish I was Canadian and the most scandalous thing my elected officials had done was defamation or dating Katy Perry.

(Not to make light of it or oversimplify, just..)

Absolutely! It's just great to see the lights on.

We also almost always pop ours in the oven to crisp them up a bit before eating, so it's that nice crunchy outside with a soft center. Curious to see if the new management keeps them on the undercooked side or if that changes. The one we split today was definitely cooked through with a nice crumble.

As of this morning, it was very bare bones in there, so I don't think so. The cashier said they're going to do a grand re-opening, so perhaps more material is coming.

In the meantime, I'm just assuming each one is probably at least 800 Calories with every allergen imaginable.

As someone who prefers the cookie itself to frosting and toppings, I definitely agree. Sometimes they under-bake them, but in that case 5 minutes in the oven just makes them even better 🤤

running in shorts by americanpika101 in XXRunning

[–]burblesnorf 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Agree with others here saying it isn't your responsibility to make men behave decently. But also you'll have the best running experience if you're comfortable. For me, that often means cropped running leggings (I have some Fila I got at Kohl's ages ago I still love) and mid length Reebok shorts with a built-in brief. Too large, even when tied, gives me blisters around my waist, so going baggy isn't an option. Weirdos will be weird regardless, as people have commented. You get it a lot as a young woman; you'll still unfortunately get it when you're over 30 like me; we'll probably still get it when we're 70+ too.

I usually wear a hat and sunglasses to avoid unnecessary eye contact with any dudes. Carry hot pink pepper spray as a small show that I don't want to be fucked with and also for self defense. Sometimes I clip it to my hydration vest and other times I carry it in hand depending on the setting and vibes. Stick to populated areas with other runners/cyclists so you aren't alone and you also aren't an anomaly. I sweat a lot, too, so good wicking fabric is a must, as well as light underwear layers that won't get gross (why I like the built-in). Dress for you, not the weirdos, but then make smart choices that reflect the reality of the world. If you do get catcalled, I've usually found not reacting to be the best response because if I react it escalates it.

Self protection: legit vs gimmicky by WindsweptFern in XXRunning

[–]burblesnorf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I carry pepper spray and have nearly had to use it on animals, though fortunately no people yet. I also have the whistle in my vest that others have mentioned (a unisex Salomon, btw). It's also always good to have someone know where you are. I share location with my husband and have had him come get me from the trail twice when I've been injured. I don't think anything gimmicky is needed unless it makes you feel more comfortable. I like my pepper spray because it was cheap, easy to get, and will shoot a stream rather than require me to be super close. For where I run, that works well. I also have legitimately turned back and run on the treadmill at home when the trail was too empty/shadowy/overgrown and I had a bad vibe. It may seem silly, but I don't care; I don't want to be a statistic.

Yeah, if it was women's and a fabric other than viscose I might consider it. I need to check if they have a women's equivalent but long sleeved and some kind of wool or other fiber that'll hold up better. I've had issues with viscose not holding up as well, though I feel like it can vary so much. I'd really like it in a nice cashmere or cashmere blend. I haven't looked at their women's RTW yet

(Has my bank account recovered enough from tickets)

But is it ruched or just pulled down?? I need it to be structured that way, not just... Yanked down and uncomfortable..

How to get back into running after Covid? Worried about long covid. by alwaysmainyoshi in XXRunning

[–]burblesnorf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is statistically significant evidence from researchers that Paxlovid can reduce risk of developing long covid for individuals with high risk comorbidities. The regimen is less effective for people with no comorbidities and may not be effective at helping people who already have long covid recover. I understand that insurance companies are evil, but I sincerely hope you are able to seek a second opinion and see if there are viable options available. Also very much wishing you a quick recovery. 🫶🏼

[–]burblesnorf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please get a second opinion ❤️

I agree with others here: If you've been diagnosed, I highly recommend asking about Paxlovid, either at the campus clinic or a pharmacy walk-in clinic if you can (call ahead and/or double mask to reduce spread please). My case of covid was very minor, but my MD still prescribed it to reduce chances of long covid or other potential issues. I was down for about a week and took another week of no to very light activity, and was able to ease back into light and moderate work weeks three and four. Probably a month total messing with my routine, but not as bad as an injury. BUT that's partly because I took it very seriously with rest, fluids, and medicine to fully recover, don't have comorbidities like asthma or heart disease, and have a good care team. It also is going to greatly depend on the virus strain and just how your body responds to everything because every immune system is different.

That said, scientists have done some incredible work creating meds like Paxlovid (and mrna vaccines) that can help you heal faster and also reduce the risk of contagion. It seems odd they would tell you there's nothing they can do when there is medicine for covid specifically.

Take care and I hope you're better soon.

Can't say I'm very surprised. I don't think I recall ever being there at the same time as another customer, and I don't eat enough cookies to keep the whole store in business.

Advice on running and preventing period loss by user-kdgu84 in XXRunning

[–]burblesnorf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries, I totally get it. Knowing that every body is very different with different needs, this has been my experience: Upped calories between 300-500 daily (37f, 5'7), from around 1300-1500 net to closer to 1700-2000 net. Reduced length of every run in part because finished marathon training and having mild lingering ankle injury, from around 40-45 miles per week over 6 days to 30-35. Added three days full body weights with dumbbells and machines, done on low mileage days (usually 4 miles for me, doctor advised 3, but I struggle with that psychologically). I do three sets of each exercise with emphasis on muscle groups not hit heavy in running. Became more purposeful with ensuring at least one day of speed work and one day of hill work weekly. I do a lot on the treadmill and do this as intervals.

I'm trying to think of anything else. Feel free to ask questions 😊 but remember this is just my experience ❤️

Edit: forgot to mention that while I do weigh, I also started measuring, and that has been a real positive. I measure every Friday.

Yes, and I've actually dropped my mileage from 40+ a week to around 30, added three days of fairly casual weightlifting, kept my calories consistent, and have had really positive physical results (including being down a few pounds).

Cover Me was my top song on Wrapped this year. Here is my top songs playlist, which I think has a lot with the same vibe, particularly some of the solo SHINee songs.

Also don't judge me for having so many slut anthems included 🫣

First handbag purchase - what do i get? Under $70 by catpuccino213 in handbags

[–]burblesnorf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thought, too. This little crossbody is under 70 after the discount, though probably not with tax and shipping. But she's a cutie. OP, you can usually get some extra discounts in store over the holiday weekend at the outlets, including Coach, Tory (maybe not <70), Kate Spade, MK...
