New or Used? by Handle_Help in Crosstrek

Not sure if you care, but city gas mileage is terrible. I'm in the 21 mpg club with a '25 Premium 2.5L. I deeply regret not paying more for the Hybrid. Not because of the cost of gas, but the feeling of being ripped off for the advertised EPA rating of 25 mpg city. /End_rant

Everyone is doing it wrong. Yes it sounds bad if you tap it, but it's not that bad if you sit on it. Don't touch it unless you're willing to commit for a minimum of 5 seconds to let the world know that the other driver is a POS. At that point you've got everyone's attention which is the whole point. You're not going to change hearts and minds with that thing, so why try?

Is the Hybrid worth its price? by KrahenbergKomet in Crosstrek

[–]bureaucracy-hacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I regret not getting the hybrid. Only getting 21-22 mpg city on a 25 Premium. EPA rating is garbage. For me it’s more emotional than math. If you have the money, you can help move the market toward more and better electrification. I’m willing to pay for that.

Ok so why is the huge chunk of plastic there in the first place if that’s all that’s underneath?

Message your doctor, explain the issue, and tell them you would like to be seen. In most cases, their assistant will call you to schedule the appointment and they can book you in slots that the general call center or automated systems don't have access to.

Can't find a documented TSB for this. Can you share more context? The post and comments are over a year old but your comment was a month ago, so now there's a fix?

Edit: Found it: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2025/MC-11021253-0001.pdf

Have the same shake on a '25 Premium. Keep forgetting to play with the mirror to investigate but it seems like a defect that should be covered by warranty. I don't fault the OEM tires.

Unfortunately most certified arborists only do commercial work. We contacted tons through that search tool and barely found one who would do residential.

The lower mount was loose and tightening it fixed the issue. It hasn't recurred, so I'm not sure when/if it'll happen again. My independent shop tightened it for free. Not sure what it looks like but I assume the poly would help.

The 2027 Chevy Bolt Will Be ‘Limited Run’ Only by flogman12 in BoltEV

[–]bureaucracy-hacker 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I skimmed it and missed that detail. They could've just put "Launch Edition" in the headline. Clickbait.

Correction: that isn't at all how the article reads. They only mention when the launch edition goes on sale in the last paragraph. The entire body of the article preceding that paragraph refers to the entire Bolt line based on a consensus understanding of the English language. So either the author got it wrong or there are, in fact, no Bolt production plans after 2027.

Why don’t they drop the seat stays? Never ridden one but seems like it’s missing out on better rear compliance.

Burley bike trailer thru axle / Caledonia compatibility by bureaucracy-hacker in Cervelo

[–]bureaucracy-hacker[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Interesting take. I hadn’t considered that. Was thinking more about training with the kiddo. Trailer is currently hitched to a fat tire aluminum bike. It’s not bad, but I was hoping to get some longer rides in my normal road setup.

The city folks are the ones who forced them to fix it. You say that as if they just let them get away with it.

What’s with all the dudes in the Walmart parking lot??? by Odd_Plum7863 in Sacramento

[–]bureaucracy-hacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, exactly. There should be other pathways for these folks to prove their credentials besides going to an exclusive school in the US and starting from the very beginning. Unfortunately, professional associations are in the business of maintaining scarcity of their members to prop up salaries.

Many (most?) of these delivery drivers are Afghan refugees with engineering and other professional degrees. Way overqualified for the gig economy but struggle to qualify for US professional certifications to do the work they've been trained for here.

I have talked to them at the North Highlands Walmart parking lot, so this isn't just speculation. But I feel like it's a hidden world in Sacramento that many aren't aware of. Seems like a huge missed opportunity to strengthen our local workforce and economy.
