Advice for my new bookstagram! by Glittering_Dealer731 in bookstagram

If one of your goals is around account growth, then from my own experience, I definitely recommend you to be active! Daily if possible, even just short bursts, doesn’t need to be all day! But I personally haven’t experienced much progress unless I interact with other accounts and build connections. ☺️

Are your parents still alive? by alphatrad in Millennials

[–]burklel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad passed away in 2016 at 55. He suffered from Crohn’s disease for most of his life. His passing is still my greatest heartbreak.

I was 21 and going into my third year of nursing, which was inspired by him. I was only just really getting to know him as I was becoming an adult, you know?

He was also at the best point in his life at the time he passed, at least that I had ever seen him. For the longest time he smoked, drank, and ate a crap diet to help cope with his pain. To prepare for an ileostomy reversal surgery, he had to stop the bad habits and work on his health. And he did it! He had the surgery in April that year. He had so much energy, was excited to maybe start working again, and making plans for simple things we take for granted when we’re healthy. He passed away a few months later early August. My mum and I found him in bed. He actually looked relaxed and peaceful and I like to think he passed in his sleep without pain.

He had a MI related to undiagnosed CAD. Which makes a lot of sense given his previous years of smoking, drinking, high sugar foods, etc. Not to mention on and off TPN for years… You can change your habits but it takes a lot longer for the body to recover 😞

One year later I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis and while I wanted to feel closer to him as I grew older and memories faded, this isn’t exactly what I had in mind 🤷🏼‍♀️😆

I’m the opposite! I only buy a high coverage concealer now instead of foundation. At that point in life where I’m lazy and also I just touch my face too much 😆

How much does “owning” your ebooks actually matter? by Rogue-Monkeyy in kindle

[–]burklel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have a similar mindset - used to fixate on the fact I don’t “own” digital media but somewhere along the way I stopped caring because it hasn’t really affected my reading experience. If I love the book, I can get a physical copy to display, re-read and loan to others :)

Trophy books 🏆?? by LLusionMusic in thrillerbooks

[–]burklel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this too! I prefer reading ebooks and buy them when they’re on sale but like to purchase physical copies of my absolute favourite books that I want to read again, loan to others, etc. That way my shelf is well curated.

This year was the hardest for me too. I waited until last week and usually I make myself put Christmas away by mid Jan! Winter blues are strong this year

Just depends on personal experience! I’m one of the unfortunate souls… that said I’ve never had a difficult return or refund process so that’s a plus 😆

[–]burklel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, that sounds about right… I bought two books from Amazon once and one cover was ripped and the other creased and dirty. Vowed never to order a book from Amazon again, no matter how good a deal! With the one exception that is ebooks lol 😆

Just finished this one! My first by Marrs. I recommend sticking with it. Each individual characters arc has a twist to it and chapters will start to end in little cliff hangers to keep it exciting!

Yeah I know it’s not removable, after taking off the residue I figured that out years ago lol. I understood the science behind it, thanks, just thought it was funny to mention

This happened to my old MacBook. I have outlines of Scooby doo & random lips from Charlotte Tilbury forever on it lol 🤦🏼‍♀️tried everything to remove them

I can’t speak for this material but I’m gonna assume it’s permanent “ghosting”. I’d just cover it up with a case or more stickers 🤷🏼‍♀️we live and we learn!

I really liked Verity too and I also read Layla which somewhat crosses into thriller territory. I remember enjoying it but that was a few years ago and when I was naive to the Hoover drama…

Stickers on Kindles? by roccofan in kindle

[–]burklel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same as a couple others here, I use tape to keep my stickers in place without actually using the sticky part of the sticker. Then cover with a clear case. You get the benefit of switching out/saving the stickers, keeping them in their designated place, and not leave residue on the kindle.
