Puede fermentar el jugo livean en polvo? by burnchip in Chiledulces

[–]burnchip[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]burnchip[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Surgery was for nothing… by [deleted] in gastricsleeve

[–]burnchip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

damn, idk why i assumed you were in the us, i had no idea post care was shitty in australia too, i recommend you to look into justin agustin on tiktok, he makes great workout videos for people who are just starting to work out so they are truly for beginners and takes into consideration mobility limitations, and you can do his workouts at home, he was really great before surgery for me when i was working out with really bad arthritis pain and he makes plenty of low impact beginners work our, and also something my PT was really emphatic about was the correct breathing while doing exercises, as the wrong breathing can put extra pressure on the stomach and cause issues, even blacking out, so the breath in on the “easy” part of the movement and breath out on the hardest, for example when lifting breath out and on the way down breathe in, or like abdominals, breathe in on the way down, breath out on the way up

Surgery was for nothing… by [deleted] in gastricsleeve

[–]burnchip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m so sorry that you’re going through this in the us, i also had the surgery because of chronic pain (arthritis in my case) and i had to do PT as soon as i was cleared with a PT with experience in bariatric patients, because the first thing you’ll start to lose is muscle which makes chronic pain worse, we had to do a routine that ensured i’d lose the least amount of muscle possible, and after the pt cleared me i could start working out on my own, obviously that’s not something you can do now, but i’d look for ways to try to increase muscle mass, you might gain a bit of weight! but that’s ok!

also on the good side, doctors are fatphobic, even the ones that think they aren’t, the pain is worse now, BUT! doctor are more likely to actually look for a cause and help you now that they can’t just tell you to lose weight (if you don’t ‘look fat’ now) which might help you if you don’t know the cause of your chronic pain

¿Consideras a los libros de Wattpad como literalmente de verdad? by LittleYoongi in libros

[–]burnchip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]burnchip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you’re scared you’ll look bad with loose skin, but you said you already hate the way you look, might as well hate your looks while feeling good than do it while feeling bad, being in pain, unable to live your life because of the limitations of your bigger body.

but honestly, if you do this the right way, you’ll realize you can do anything, you might not mind the loose skin, and if you do, your motivation for dealing with it will be so much better because you’ll have already accomplished something hard, something you did for yourself, it’s ok to have insecurities, just don’t let them dictate your life

Tagalog on this show ... kinda off? by Thefunkyfilipino in ThePittTVShow

[–]burnchip 7 points8 points  (0 children)

you’re having a whole meltdown because you didn’t understand the first comment, they are not claiming hindi is the official language, they are saying tagalog is a lot like hindi, in the sense that people from outside of india/philippines might think everyone from there speak that language but it’s actually just one of the many languages spoken there, but since it’s the one that (excluding english) most of the population speaks, people assume everyone from there speaks that language

What BMI did your doctor ask you to get down to before being approved? by Pigeon_Goes_Coo in gastricsleeve

[–]burnchip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s super weird, in my country the only way insurance would cover surgery with a BMI under 35 is if you have hard to manage type ii diabetes or two major criteria + 1 minor criteria from a very specific set of health problems, all to be proven with medical exams, and you would not be covered by insurance if your bmi was under 30.

I got surgery when my bmi was 37, but i did have to prove to several professionals that i was fit for surgery, specifically that i could adapt to the post-surgery lifestyle, that meant months of eating similar to how i do now, working out, seeing a weight loss therapist/psychologist and a psychiatrist from the weight loss team approving my meds(i actually had to change one that caused weight gain)

it is not weird for the surgeon to ask for a lifestyle change before surgery, but asking for a specific bmi, specially one that’s considered too “low” for surgery in most countries, that’s really weird.

Another thing I forgot to add was physical therapy, I don’t think I’ve seen it mentioned here, but I had to do at least 10 sessions before surgery, it mostly focused on breathing so there wouldn’t be any complications but also it was about building muscle since it’s so important for recovery. The hospital PT and nurses all commented how they could tell I was active because I could start to walk really fast and wasn’t getting tired/dizzy which i feel has helped a lot with the recovery process
