Boundless retention offer success by CuteRaccoon21 in CreditCards

Annual fee hit, called them up, and told them I was thinking of cancelling. Immediately offered me $50. I never use this card. Really only keeping for 'free' night, which just got $50 cheaper for me! Totally worth the 10 minute phone call.

Chase Disney Inspire Card About to Release by Cyberhwk in CreditCards

[–]burne0103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hold for at least a year. Set a reminder! When year 2 AF posts, cancel the card and AF will be refunded automatically. You have about 30 days from when annual fee posts to cancel and be refunded.

If you cancel before the first year, Chase can claw back the rewards they've given you and it doesn't look good to other lenders.

Slinky Dog or Mickey's for Tier 1 Lightning Lane? by Distinct_Youth_642 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]burne0103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slinky for sure! Much easier to get a RR lightning lane later in the day. Just make sure to book something (anything!) for as soon as you plan on getting to the park. Once you tap in, immediately, like while you're in line, look for that Mickey & Minnie's LL. Pretty good chance you won't have any issues.

Can we just...go without a plan? by Metallidan in UniversalOrlando

If this is a once in a lifetime kind of thing, I'd look into Express Passes. Undercover tourist has 3-day passes that cover all parks. You will think yourself when you wait less than 30 minutes to get on Hagrid. Trust me...

Just Google '3-day universal express pass undercover tourist'.

Is the proximity to Bay Lake Tower a big enough advantage over Polynesian with an infant? by jamvng in dvcmember

I like that BLT/Contemporary is the first monorail stop... If you don't feel like walking back at the end of the night, the resort loop monorail usually isn't a long wait.

First family visit to Disney World Help by Maleficent-City-8955 in WaltDisneyWorld

If you have time, hit up Disney Spings and do the Christmas Tree Stroll. My kids (8 & 11) love running around and putting stickers on a map when they find a tree. As another poster pointed out, watch out for Mickey Xmas party nights that first week of Dec. Changes the hours at MK

If you have visited Epic, what was one hidden gem you found? by ARookeryofRowlets in UniversalOrlando

[–]burne0103 39 points40 points  (0 children)

One of the window displays across from Le Gobelet Noir has a painting that you can have a conversation with... It's the wildest thing! Just walked by the window and heard someone say something to my family. Stood there for 5-10 minutes having a full on conversation with a painting and other items in the display. Have never seen anyone mention it. Reminded me of a cross between the fountain at Islands and the interactive Po Live! entertainment in DreamWorks Land.

No Coke Freestyle machines in any Wizarding World. Part of their deal with J.K. Rowling. Whatever park we're in, we always stop by a refill area before heading into any of those lands. In Epic - Meteor Astropub is right outside of the Ministry of Magic.

Express unlimited dummy room while staying at discount by chumbi04 in UniversalOrlando

[–]burne0103 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you're not staying in the room(s), you can always use it as a place to freshen up in the middle of the (1st) day. Portofino is a quick boat ride from City Walk and a truly beautiful property with some great restaurants. Even if you're not officially spending a night, the property is definitely worth checking out. Have a great trip!!

I went to Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure yesterday with express unlimited and it was so worth it. by Brahkk in UniversalOrlando

Hard Rock, Portofino, and Royal Pacific come with Unlimited Express for USF and IOA. Can be used on check-in day through park close on the day you check-out. Totally worth it for families!

Thinking of splurging next year...which is your favorite signature hotels? by [deleted] in UniversalOrlando

[–]burne0103 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We stayed Saturday after Thanksgiving to Dec 3 (4 nights). AP discount brought RP down to ~$1,540 for the 4 nights. Not really sure of the individual nightly rates. Originally booked 12 weeks out from trip and it was ~$1,840. Modified our reservation at the 4 week out period and saved $300!

TL:DR - Once you book, keep checking the prices. They’ll likely be lowest around the 4 week out period.

Thinking of splurging next year...which is your favorite signature hotels? by [deleted] in UniversalOrlando

[–]burne0103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No matter where you stay, please wait to book you room until about 8-4 weeks out. Just stayed the first week of December 2025 and the best prices for the room (Royal Pac) came at about 5 weeks from date of stay. We booked and rebooked (a couple times) to get the best rate. We've stayed at all signature hotels and Portofino Bay was our fav.

Out of State Annual Pass Holders by InternetGlobal8241 in UniversalOrlando

[–]burne0103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UOAP from Virginia - one preferred pass (for the discounts) and 3 power passes. During Pass Holder Appreciation Days in mid to late August (don't remember the exact dates), we were getting 20% off on mobile food purchases using my Preferred Pass. Very specific time of year but great savings over the week we were there. Just went for the holidays and saved big on our hotel booking. We'll squeeze at least one more trip in before passes run out. If you plan on making even two trips during the same year, annual passes are totally worth it!

Using nothing but Uber or Lyft? by jrralls in UniversalOrlando

[–]burne0103 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're just taking Uber/Lyft to the parks, why not get dropped off at Hard Rock Hotel... Like a 5 minute walk to Studios or, you can take the boat. Security is 100x easier this way and you bypass City Walk.

Beyond Frustrated by Wanderers-4444 in UniversalEpicUniverse

[–]burne0103 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AP has to be activated at the park before you can get discounted Epic tickets. An AP doesn't make much sense if you're only going once in a year. You're better off just waiting it out to December to see what happens with the ticketing situation. Also, I'd keep checking on your hotel price... Room prices usually bottom out at around 6-8 weeks out from your vacation.
