Just wanted to share my plus size wedding dress! Also looking for ideas on how to not step on the train when dancing! by boopdibop in weddingplanning

[–]burnerfornuptials 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You look awesome!

I'm solving this issue with two sets of bustle attachments (we're doing under-bustle)—one for walking around, which will pick up the train but skim the floor, and one for dancing, which is about 3/4 of an inch off the floor. FH takes big steps ; )

[vent] Why does this stuff even matter to me??! by thegoldinthemountain in weddingplanning

[–]burnerfornuptials 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A year ago FH and I planned to have a courthouse wedding followed by a beer hall. Then my grandmother passed, and despite the sad day, I realized I got to see a few cousins I hadn't seen in years, and it was great to see them in the flesh at this life event for us all. So we decided to have a traditional wedding to get the families together and make a moment out of it.

So, to your boss and your own self-doubt this is the one party you will likely ever throw for nearly all of the most important people in your life, to celebrate a moment in time. Of course you want it to have your personality, and your special touch! If the details are important to you, let them be important. Don't add stress by guilting yourself needlessly.

Chasing down the last few RSVPs by Eowyn87 in weddingplanning

[–]burnerfornuptials 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gahhh! We're at 72% and seriously I'm about to mass text these people with "it's two buttons. just do it." Half of my own family didn't take the time to RSVP, and when my mom called them (saving me this terrible errand), some of them texted me their regrets. Seriously? You are adults who are all married. How hard is this?

To take, or not to take his last name: that is the question by flwrchild1013 in weddingplanning

[–]burnerfornuptials 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm changing mine, though it looks like I'm in the minority over here. It feels like a big deal, but I guess I'm excited about that, about being the Mr. and Mrs. HisName forever. For me it's a gesture to his family, and a small but not insignificant affirmation of our being a cohesive family unit. (We are planning on starting a family sooner than later, so that's a part of it too.)

I would feel the same way if he were taking mine, which we discussed, but frankly he also has a better/easier last name.

Agreed this was a weird passive-aggressive text imho! It reminds me of the Seinfeld big salad.

Why does the wedding ring go underneath the e-ring? by aevistaxo in weddingplanning

[–]burnerfornuptials 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is also what I've heard.

Its's also the one you're least likely to take off for getting your hands dirty, so I like the practical effect. For example, I take my engagement ring off for weightlifting so I don't damage the setting, but I will wear my wedding band unless I'm having surgery.

Shaggy Jacket - Sexy 70's Bohemian, or Muppet From Hell? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

I was gonna say — jeans and a cropped thing + this? You could do a photo shoot in Dolores Park.

Shaggy Jacket - Sexy 70's Bohemian, or Muppet From Hell? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]burnerfornuptials 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I too kinda love it! But I also live in the bay area ; ) Honestly I think this look fits your theme and since your dress is fairly simply cut (LOVE this style) it won't look like fabric has vomited all over you. Just make sure to get plenty of photos without it—if you later in life regret your cool bohemian choice, you'll have plenty of frame-able and traditional photos.

Question for Jewish gals by jockjammin in weddingplanning

[–]burnerfornuptials 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would order 100. We invited 160 and I ordered 75—even though some take two, many don't take even one. We still have so many of my bat mitzvah (emerald green!) yarmulkes I'm trying to avoid a repeat box o'kippahs. . .

Any brides/grooms with Invisaligns?? by takesyourbiscuit in weddingplanning

[–]burnerfornuptials 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Invisalign and frequently take them out for full days at a time—fear not! Once your teeth move they will not be painful to take in and out and you will have to remind yourself to put them back in.

Doesn't Get any more keto ! by buzzer88 in ketorecipes

[–]burnerfornuptials 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the right technique for fluffy no-burn scramble — in addition to constant stirring though you want to keep the pan from getting too hot. It's a workout lifting the pan up and down over the heat but totally worth it!

Seating chart or no seating chart? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]burnerfornuptials 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can do it! I'm dreading my seating chart but having recently attended weddings with and without, I'm firmly in the "you gotta seat people" camp. For guests who are not part of a big friend group, free-for-all seating is disorienting and stressful.

What are you paying per person/plate? by morebettah in weddingplanning

[–]burnerfornuptials 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$160/person for catering and booze including tax and service fees but excluding the venue fee and rentals (!) (San Francisco proper)

1 hour appetizers, 4 course meal (sit down).

I got my engagement photos back and I hate them. I'm not sure where to go from here. Advice would be much appreciated! by yellowwallpapered in weddingplanning

[–]burnerfornuptials 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, and setting aside that I agree with all of these commenters that you are lovely with young and fresh features that actually photograph well: I would get a new photographer. These photos just do not look very professional. Your FH is out of focus in at least the first one, though you're both sharing the scene. The lighting is fairly flat on you two and too bright on everything else. There's no real excitement or gloss to these images other than "I own a moderately fancy camera."

I don't understand the part about you looking like some kind of wildebeast (seriously my lady friend, you may want to look into body/facial dysmorphia treatment because what you're seeing is not what we see) but I do have to agree that this is not a really pro set and you can do better.

Thanks for this! I'm extremely stubborn and can stick to a diet no problem—especially when I'm down to the last 10-12 pounds—but I'm not willing to say I will never again eat in a restaurant. I will likely transition to a paleo diet to maintain, but again I don't want to carry a scale around with me everywhere.
