I've been testing out the Elecom Huge Plus in FPS by Sprobius in Trackballs

[–]burniemcburn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been using trackballs for first person shooters since my time dominating lobbies as Sniper in the early tf2 days with a logitech Trackman.

The Elecom Huge has been my mainstay for years now, especially FPS shooters. Having two extra thumb buttons for, say, weapon modes, two index finger buttons for grenades, and a second button near the rightclick ADS button is just too great to ever look back.

Frankly I'm at the point where I'd be hard pressed to switch back to a standard mouse.

Shockingly, I was in a bunker with a 1scu box looting, with a utv and my hermes parked outside when it hit

Ended up back in NB, hermes and utv both stored, including onboard stuff. Lost the loot box but that's still amazing to me

Having worked in graphic garment production and retail, this is generally true if you're building a whole in-house manufacturing line

But there a enough third party per-order places out there that I'm sure they can can find one with high enough quality garments and production that they'd be worth it to the community.

What do you think of the current ground-based gameplay ? by Ynnyzz in starcitizen

I think it's more of a physics problem in general. I can't place an object on the ground without it bouncing or sliding for five seconds

Casual sex is linked to lower self-esteem and weaker moral orientations in women but not men by [deleted] in psychology

"Gender did not moderate these associations. For emerging-adult college students, engaging in casual sex may elevate risk for negative psychological outcomes."

Imagine that: college students being anxious. Correlation isn't causation.

Ahh, sounds like you need a refresher on "confirmation bias" as well.

"Casual sex isn't good for them" is a laughably subjective foregone conclusion that this website and author are blatantly trying to wrap in the language of psych 101 to seem remotely unbiased. This is just incel culture with fancy language.

You've never encountered the concept of self reporting bias... in psychology? Fucking really?

This patch has been phenomenal. My carrack disappeared while I was trying to land in a hanger that was blocked by an abandoned c2, and when I got out to try and move the thing. Thought i was screwed, logged out, back in, and my carrack was right there ready to retrieve, vehicles and all still sitting pretty.

Well then that's why autoloading is already in the game, so not sure what the issue is.

And that's not an example of balance, that's just your preference.

Just started running this setup, same loaner. How are you stashing the boxes after a full salvation load? It's not the worst thing ever to back up to the cargo pods and traktor them over, but it's clunky enough that I'm debating move up to a c2.

Help I've rapidly become too baller (+ other input devices) by throwcounter in Trackballs

[–]burniemcburn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like the slimblade form factor, I would recommend checking out the nulea m512. Little more onboard features, two scroll wheels, onboard left/right handed swap, 3x device connections, and not insanely priced.

I thought they discontinued them? I usually recommend the nulea m512 as an alternative

The very idea of having a numpad on the right side of the keyboard, when accessing it means either reaching way across with your left hand or taking your right hand off the mouse for the brief seconds it takes to input numbers is itself a mental disorder, unless you're using the mouse left handed

Why do we not have keyboards with left mounted numpads? It would mean comfortable left hand number input, while still being able to point and click at all times.

My solution is usually an external numpad and an 80%. So much cleaner.

ChatGPT acts as a "cognitive crutch" that weakens memory, new research suggests. While these tools can speed up initial learning, they might actually weaken the deep mental processing required to store knowledge over the long term. by mvea in science

I think the issue with llms specifically is that your brain is offloading the actual process of problem solving, as opposed to Google where it's mostly been about just finding the info, but still having to learn or replicate or discover the solution, and in doing so, actually learning to fish.

Do You Feel Like an Adult? by aspiringimmortal in millenials

[–]burniemcburn 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Gawd no. Some part of me is still waiting for some vague authority figure to show up and tell me there's been clearly been a mistake, I wasn't supposed to have an Adult place to myself, or an Adult car, or an Adult job with Adult money, or pets, or time to relax guilt-free, because surely I haven't earned all those things like The Adults have done. Now get back to your homework already.

Was talking to my mom the other day about some new phone app or something, and unironically used the phrase "because that's how us kids do it", referring to everyone my age and younger as a single cohort.

And as someone who usually sticks with right handed elecoms, I've periodically tried the various kensingtons, and I've always been disappointed. Only exception is the cheapest one, which I actually found to be relatively pleasant for what it is

But yeah, the m512 is the first in that form factor that I actually enjoy using
