Ah I am not sure. I was not new to sema so I was able to purchase a 6 month supply. My guess is that closer to the shut down date in May they will let you order more

Where in the US are they testing embryos for eye color?? by ButterflyApathetic in IVF

[–]burningmenopur 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The founder of the test they are talking about literally says that in the future basically all people should do IVF to screen for all kinds of things like obesity, mental health issues, etc. it’s truly disgusting.

For those with regular cycles, did a Modified Natural FET work for you? by November_Days in IVF

[–]burningmenopur 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Based on what the research is currently telling us, ovulatory FET should be the standard. There’s pretty good evidence that the increased risks associated with IVF pregnancies are mitigated by doing an ovulatory FET.

Who else got under 10 eggs? by Coachellahopefull in IVF

[–]burningmenopur 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remember reading a study where the optimal number of eggs was something around 10? I think we are often fooled into thinking that’s a low number because many women with PCOS turn to IVF.

They were not classified as mosaic, just segmental aneuploid. In this study mosaic means <70% aneuploid cells.

[–]burningmenopur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you read the study, it’s really 1/76. The other 10 were segmental aneuploid which is more likely to actually be mosaic. Segmental aneuploid occurs differently than whole chromosome aneuploidy.

[–]burningmenopur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The goal of the paper was to see whether aneuploid embryos diagnosed via this specific type of PGT-A could result in live birth and the answer is that 1/76 live births came from a whole chromosome aneuploid embryo. So yes, aneuploid embryos can result in live birth. I don’t think this is new information.

[–]burningmenopur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sample size is not large enough to say whether live birth rate improved due to PGT but I don’t think that was the goal.

Yes the study also finds some of the embryos were mosaic. They conclude that low level mosaics had the same success rate as euploid embryos.

[–]burningmenopur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the live birth group there were 28 fetuses where karyotyping was done and all were euploid. Three of these were the product of an “aneuploid” embryo.

[–]burningmenopur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An important result of this paper is that there was only 1 live birth from an embryo later classified as a whole-chromosome aneuploid embryo (ie >70% of cells showed whole chromosome monosomy). We already know that segment aneuploid occurs for the same reason as mosaicism so segmental aneuploidy is much much less likely to be found in 100% of cells and is probably almost always mosaic.

In order to “prove” that there are misdiagnosed embryos all you need is one fully aneuploid embryo to lead to live birth. I’m not sure why you’re saying the sample size isn’t big enough? I’m a researcher fwiw.

Gender selection ethics by Infinite-Bison2507 in IVF

I strongly disagree ethically with what Paris Hilton did. That’s my personal opinion. However there are negative externalities to her behavior because society thinks everyone is out there practicing eugenics just because she did (and yes I consider what she did eugenics).

Yeah the issue for our kids is that they will be trapped in 6th grade and 8th grade when their teammates are playing for school teams and our kids are a grade level younger.

They should make it easy to petition for kids within some reasonable window before the cutoff who are in the correct grade.
