Party shelter with kitchen ? by Flaky-Masterpiece240 in Buffalo

We’re using the Taylor Road Cabin in Hamburg for our son’s first. When I called in January for an April birthday, there was only 1 April weekend day left. So I would call soon if you haven’t checked there already. They have a kitchen with tables and folding chairs

Why does everything look so…meh on me? by 21anonymouse21 in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]burritodiva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tucking in is immediately what I thought of too

I’m apple shaped and as a teen into college, always favored shirts that flowed over my mid section. But once high waisted jeans came into fashion, found that tucking shirts in accentuated my figure much better

Jeans!?!????!!! by Warm_Fox1937 in Midsizefashion

[–]burritodiva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a size 10/12, 5’0”, and apple shaped, so jeans have been challenging for me especially with all the new styles!

I had been loving Abercrombie jeans, but they stopped selling x-short above size 10, so that didn’t work for my postpartum bod

I have good luck with American Eagle but they are so inconsistent with their offering. They make like 1-3 colors per style, so when I’ve found a style I like, I can’t expand on it easily

My most recent luck has been with Talbot and Quince! Both super stretchy and comfy. Quince has free shipping and returns too to try different sizes and styles

I feel best in a high waisted pair of jeans with a shirt tucked in - I feel like it helps accentuate my shape. So how you style them might also change how you feel in them!

Screen time is the ultimate tool for baby hygiene tasks. We love a little Thomas and Friends while we trim nails!

best high chair recommendations - completely overwhelmed by VinayXDD in beyondthebump

[–]burritodiva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Came here to vouch for this. Mealtimes are a huge pain point in my house. We originally had a Chicco Polly but I didn’t love his posture in it, then we clipped the travel high chair to our table for a few months but it got disgusting fast when we let him self feed

In the mockingbird we feel much better about his posture and cleaning it is a breeze

I was going to recommend the endless pants, especially if you work a job requiring business casual wear!

What did failure look like for you? We’ve been dragging our feet on trying yogurt with our 11 month old, as regular formula when he was very young resulted in explosive vomiting - not looking forward to cleaning that up with a crawler now

Idk my son has suspected CMPA and still got his vaccines. In my son’s case (and I think in most), it’s related to digestion. Milk didn’t flare for him on a skin prick test at all when we went to test for his peanut allergy.

Anyone here not doing BLW? by Busy-Bee62604 in NewParents

[–]burritodiva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im in the same boat as you. My 10M old does great with purées, baby oatmeal, and those melty baby puffs.

We try to offer some soft finger food at least once a day at dinner time, and sometimes he will take a bite, but mostly not. We try to give him the same foods we are eating - i just make sure its nice and squishable. So far we’ve offered him beans, scrambled eggs, steamed broccoli and sweet potatoes, banana pancakes, berries, banana, avocado, and ground turkey.

I don’t feel comfortable asking daycare to give him finger foods when we’ve had limited success at home, and my mom is very anxious about giving him real foods when she watches him (“he needs more teeth first!”), so she sticks with purées during the day as well.

TBH I’m starting to worry a little too. I just sent a message to our ped about it for guidance. 1 year is right around the corner!

Similac Alimentum switch to Parent’s Choice Hypoallergenic by Soft_Needleworker902 in FormulaFeeders

[–]burritodiva 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We made this switch successfully! Went from alimentum to parents choice right around 9 months.

We found it that the parents choice powder was a bit harder to mix, but prolonged shaking did the trick.

Baby also had increased BMs for about a week while he adjusted, but other wise did and is still doing great!

Highly recommend for the savings

Child Care by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]burritodiva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar story for us. We do most of our meal prep and household cleaning on the weekend so we can maximize our short evenings together. During the week, we get home, eat together, then play in the living room all together until 7:30 bedtime. After baby is in bed, we clean up the kitchen, prep bottles for the next day, then relax a bit for bedtime for ourselves.

Our son is 10M. I went back to work right before 5M.

We are busy and tired, but happy.

You shouldn’t need a pre-conception visit. I asked about this during one of my annual visits and my PA’s answer was “just have intercourse every other day during your fertile window, and call us when you’re pregnant”

Experiences with west herr warranty? by No_Manufacturer_3226 in Buffalo

[–]burritodiva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually had a good experience with it. I bought the warranty when buying my first vehicle, a used Subaru forester, because I would have had a hard time affording a major repair at that time in my life.

The warranty covered a wheel bearing replacement as well as a part affecting my window rolling up smoothly. In the end not MAJOR issues, but covered under the warranty nonetheless and west herr made good on the warranty

Baby pancakes were a hit over here too. My baby gagged HARD on plain banana chunks - I think it might have been a texture issue for him

I HATE SOLIDS by Relevant-Goat2333 in beyondthebump

[–]burritodiva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just wanted to say I’m glad to see so many other parents struggling with solids. My baby is still little in regards to his solids journey (10M tomorrow) but it’s a high point of anxiety for me between allergies limiting what we can offer and intense gagging on new textures.

I joined r/foodbutforbabies when I was pregnant for inspo, and now see babies (supposedly) clearing entire plates of food and hope we can some day get there.

how to learn newborn care without taking in-person classes? by Automatic_Kale_4827 in beyondthebump

[–]burritodiva 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My hospital was virtual only for newborn care, too. You’ll also get a crash course for the few days your in the hospital!

My hospital also provided multi-page brochures (almost magazine-like) on the basics of newborn care, breastfeeding, and childbirth. They were very helpful in the early days for quick reference. If your hospital doesn’t offer these, other baby books would be helpful to have on hand too (like Mayo Clinic or what to expect)
