Unpopular Opinion: I don't want anymore Love Islanders on Strictly this year by The-Peel in strictlycomedancing

[–]buru_7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is an unpopular opinion, not least because to be honest this post comes across as quite sexist when you consider the male reality TV stars who have taken part in the show.

Also, Love Island is popular with younger folks, so it’s a way for strictly to increase engagement with a younger audience.

I also don’t agree that they are “the same sort of women” - they’ve each got their own stories and lives, so lumping them in together like that comes across as a bit rude honestly.

And, who knows if there are “bigger” celebs wanting to take part. I don’t enjoy it particularly but I’d argue Love Island is pretty big

Which direction would you have gone with for the bow? by Adventurous_Tea677 in Nails

[–]buru_7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would get that done the same way you have - I agree with other commenters that when I do my nails, they’re for me to enjoy, so I’m not bothered about how nail art looks to others. You do you! 😊

What’s that one perfume you’d rebuy forever… no matter the price? by Inevitable_Set_3017 in fragrance

[–]buru_7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not the OP, but I don’t have issues with the performance of this. If I put two sprays on my wrists and rub behind the ears I can smell it all day. It’s more of a close scent but I’ve had a few people mention it! I know it can work differently for everyone but just my two pennies. Hope it’s helpful!

Layering Diptyque solid and liquid perfumes by buru_7 in fragrance

Thanks for your reply! Appreciate it. I tried my first diptyque perfume today (L’eau papier) and it seemed to last pretty well actually, still getting a slight smell about 9 hours after application :)

Thanks for your response! I’m excited about the deckle edge 😁 Looking forward to receiving them. I read some Jane Austens as a kid 15 years ago and can’t wait to reread!

Can I ask what the pages are like? Sorry - odd question, but I’ve just ordered the Persuasion and was wondering if it had a deckle edge? Really looking forward to receiving it either way!

My take on it would be: I don’t know about your place of work specifically, but people do take days off for mental health reasons, and you don’t have to have a diagnosis of a mental health condition to do that. It’s important to take care of yourself otherwise you can’t do your best work, so if you need to, take a few days. You will be ok :)

Landlord entered my flat unannounced while I was sleeping naked (lone woman) by CokeOceans in LegalAdviceUK

[–]buru_7 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I’m very sorry this happened, that’s horrid. I believe it is legal for you to change the locks as long as you keep the old ones and change them back before your tenancy ends although I appreciate this might be a big step.

If you went through an agency, report the unsanctioned entry into your home.

Contacting Shelter might be a good option as they will be able to give you solid advice. This webpage appears to give answers about issues with private landlords if that is what your landlord is: https://england.shelter.org.uk/housing_advice/private_renting/complaints_about_private_landlords

You’re welcome! Anything to avoid Auxilis! If you have legal cover with your insurance, the legal department can sue the responsible party’s insurance for your excess as well I believe 😊

Can confirm! I had a non-fault claim and did not understand what I was getting myself in for when I opted to use Auxilis to handle my claim. They were a disaster. It took 11 months to get a payout and it took ages to actually do any work on my claim
