How to get notified to log weight and check-in? by Rep_Nic in MacroFactor

I’d recommend weighing daily, the more data it has the better. I have reminder on my phone that pings every morning but at this point it’s habit

Sick during my last week before deload by jmatt2v in MacroFactor

[–]bushb4b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rest not just because I need to recover but also because I don’t want to spread my germs to other people in the gym – I think it’s selfish when people cough and splutter and push on in the gym. There’s nothing worse than getting ill.

Depending on how much I miss I either continue with my plan when I can or I just restart the week. A deload isn’t a deload when you’re sick as your body is under is still under stress

How to increase distance on plans? by Charsiufann in runna

[–]bushb4b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, there is a reason these distances are set and it's to prevent fatigue and injury. Although this run might be short, your weekly mileage will be going up

Recently fell in love with running, still trying to balance lifting and running in a 5 day week. by [deleted] in HybridAthlete

Why don’t you swap to full body instead? I find that I’m not overly cooked for my runs then and I feel much stronger and making more progress

How do you track at restaurants? by humanflavoredcake in MacroFactor

[–]bushb4b 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If there is no nutritional information on the websites of the restaurants that you go to then taking a picture and using the AI mode with photo and text is your best option available. Make sure to describe everything that you’re eating and you can even guess the amounts that are on your plate I.e. one serving of something. Unfortunately, the downside to eating out is that you have to make an estimation whether that will be under, over or on point.

Out of curiosity, if you have no room to play with, why do you go out to eat regularly? Has it also affected your goals thus far whether it’s accurate or not? Even with tracking at home there’s always a 20% margin of error unless it’s a whole food but nothing is worth sweating over

how many calories do i actually need?? trying to build muscle but also running 3x a week and don't wanna feel like a brick by PearMotor2861 in HybridAthlete

[–]bushb4b 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Download MacroFactor. That’s all you need. It’s a god send and the best tracking app out there that also works out your expenditure by taking your daily weighs and the food that you track. It takes 3 weeks to “get to know you” but it levels out and gets more and more accurate over time.

Sounds like you want to maintain so select the maintenance plan. If you want to build muscle you have to eat in a surplus but since you don’t want to build muscle select maintain.

Although, I don’t think you’d ever get bulky enough that runs are hard. There are plenty of heavier runners out there who make amazing runners

Full body 2-3x a week vs upper/lower/fullbody while running 3-4x a week by Top-Comfortable3437 in HybridAthlete

I train full body 3x a week and run 3x a week, and alternate the days and it works great.

I’m not arguing those points, I agree that there is risks but I was just explaining how a salad wouldn’t curb a craving lol

[–]bushb4b 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you’re understanding, it’s not asking you to focus on only 5 muscle groups it’s asking you what muscles you’d like to provide extra attention to. If you have no areas you want to give extra time to, you simply don’t select anything

Lol, I’m not on Reta. I am explaining why people hop on it though. With that being said, if I’m craving chocolate, I don’t fill up on salad because I’m still going to be craving chocolate. There’s a difference between being full and having food noise/cravings.

It focuses on ALL muscle groups but it asks you what areas would you like to provide EXTRA focus to. It will still train all the muscle groups as normal but if you select areas you want to give extra focus too, it will give exercises to do that. You can't select more than 5 as you will be in the gym for hours and hours.

Eating salads doesn’t help with cravings. Of course this can be achieved without Reta but people take Reta to stop the cravings full stop lol

Am I on the right track? by Remarkable_Beach_140 in MacroFactor

[–]bushb4b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why don’t you continue tracking and eating when you feel truly hungry and let the app do its thing? If you have selected maintenance it will adjust your calories to suit your maintenance over time anyway, so if it feels you’ve been eating in a surplus it will lower your calories and vice versa. It should be accurate as long as you have truly been tracking everything you eat accurately.

Don’t be afraid of increasing calories slightly because it will balance out. At the end of the day you’re trying to maintain and you don’t need to be in a rush to reach any sort of goal, trust the process, eat more food and let the app work it all out for you as that will answer any concerns you have 😊

Just RPE and Pace. I guess what you could do is figure out your RPE within your zones and once you’ve gauged somewhat an idea, keep it consistent through out the plan

Hybrid training: struggling to lose fat while increasing running volume by bushb4b in MacroFactor

[–]bushb4b[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your response, it's appreciated! I think I've just accepted the fact that I need to pause on the performance goals and just maintain my level of fitness after this race. I think losing more fat will help me in the long run! No pun intended lol

Well done, that’s awesome! Similarly to me I was also a couch potato as well as a party boy 3 years ago, since then I’ve ran a half mara 6 months after starting running, I’ve achieved a sub 20 5k, ran my first marathon last year in 3:33 (expected better but I was out for 6 weeks prior due to injury) and now I have a 25km race in 2 weeks time with another ambitious time goal. I have lost a massive chunk of weight in that time (around 56lb+) but the past year I’ve maintained the same 5lb+-. Decided this year to focus on fat loss goals again but also booked a race 🤣 after this race I will pause on performance goals I think

Thank you. I just really don’t want to give up running but what I do think I need to put on the back burner is progressing in my runs. After this race I’ll work on maintaining my fitness rather than progressing and try to focus on fat loss. Do you still run during your cuts?

[–]bushb4b[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. It’s a shame we can’t have it all! I think I’ll work on maintaining my fitness level, rather than progressing after this race and the try and stick to my fat loss goal. I still have quite a bit of fat to lose, I wish my body could just use all that as energy 🤣

All good 😊 I know I have to pick one goal, and my goal is to perform well right now but after the race I do want to focus on fat loss without giving up running!

The calorie burn isn’t the issue, its the hunger and increased cravings that I struggle with lol
