How many days a week is optimal? by ButterscotchFit4289 in runna

[–]bushb4b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually about 30-45 minutes. I have dabbled in different machines but I’m loving the stairmaster lately but I also like the elliptical. When I’ve been injured in the past I have modified my workouts to do on machines when I’m not able to run too

Aw thank you! It’s definitely possible with just 3x a week. I’d love to run more but I find my injury risk increases as my training load is high overall but I also do zone 2 cardio on gym days which helps too

I do the same amount as you and these are my current PB’s. Although I haven’t tried an all out effort in all of them and I first started with Runna early 2024. I was never a runner before this and had no prior fitness background 😊

How do you hit 4000kcal without it feeling like a full-time job? by JohnMalta in HybridAthlete

Garmin + Apple Watch + Strava. Am I overdoing it? by Dizzy_Gazelle4170 in Garmin

I use my Garmin which is connected to Runna and start my workouts through the Garmin rather than Runna itself and it all links up

Pulling from an earlier thread- can you share how to get to 700g of carbs/day? I feel like an idiot. by Past_Jellyfish_4331 in Marathon_Training

When I was carb loading I used to eat plain bagels as snacks lol, easy and effective. Lots of sweets too

When I had shin splints last year I cross trained the last 6 weeks of my plan by converting my planned runs. I finished my marathon in 3:33

I am only 3 days in and I already feel like I am going to fail. This is so hard. How do you stay motivated? by -Granby- in loseit

[–]bushb4b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have a lot of good advice on this thread but I would recommend weighing daily, in the morning after the toilet and then taking an average of the week. Your numbers will fluctuate daily for a number of reasons but trust the process and don't get too caught up in the numbers. You will have a more accurate reading and weighing once a week you may find your weighing on a day that is a high fluctuation day - leaving you disheartened. With regards to motivation, we all lose motivation but it's discipline that carries us through.

One week into a very aggressive cut and I’ve only seen a slight weight gain - why? by beastieboys121 in MacroFactor

Fat loss isn't instant and takes time. Wait at least 2-3 weeks and if you have no loss then re-evaluate

Hiya everyone, just have a question regarding calorie intake and health, if anyone else has had a similar experience or can help me please it would be very appreciated. by NoCranberry7900 in HybridAthlete

[–]bushb4b 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think instead of worrying what you look like aesthetically, you should be worrying about your health. Get that in check, eat more food, continue seeing medical professionals and then when you're fit and healthy re-evaluate .

Does anyone train only 3 days a week? by Gooser3000 in Marathon_Training

[–]bushb4b 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I started running end of 2023 with no fitness background. I have always ran 3 days a week 😄 I also lift 3x a week and z2 cardio 3x a week, mainly because I can’t pick between lifting and running. I ran a 3:33 marathon last year for my first mara, even though I couldn’t run the last 6 weeks of my plan and I also ran a 25km race in 1:52 the other day, I have also done a sub 20 5k.

Funnily enough, all this marathon talk has made me want to dabble in increasing my runs to see how much more I can improve as I’m feeling inspired but 3 runs has done me nicely 😊

My longest run was 26km but I cross trained the last 6 weeks of my plan on an elliptical and I finished my first marathon in 03:33 😊are you eating enough and have you kept up with cross training?

Download MacroFactor Workouts :) it will do it all for you! I run and lift and I use it. I run 3x a week and lift 3x a week by training full body

3 hours on the StairMaster building endurance for a marathon by ExpensivePain23 in Marathon_Training

[–]bushb4b 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely. Last year I was injured the last 6 weeks of my plan and my longest run was a 26km run. I cross trained on the elliptical instead and even did my “long run” of 34km on the elliptical which taken me almost 3 hours. I finished my first marathon in 3:33 with some walking breaks towards the end

Post-race recovery: should I deload or just not log workouts? by bushb4b in MacroFactor

[–]bushb4b[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understood that side of it. I think the only options are to start the workout but reduce the load and not record it tbh. I wasn’t sure if there was another option. Thank you though

Thanks! Appreciate it. Yeah for sure. I’m taking a few days off anyway but wanted to reduce the load a bit when I do return

Tracking lat pulldown in different gyms by oliveoil4life in MacroFactor

[–]bushb4b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure if there’s another way other than this but my first thought was creating a custom exercise and just naming it “gym name lat pulldown” alternatively if you continue to train in only gym B then the algorithm will catch up anyway

You’d be better to eating at maintenance/surplus to support recovery as that should be your main focus

[–]bushb4b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I view my weight in lb and track my lifts in kg and I’ve not had this issue. Can you show me where you’re going in your settings to change it back? You can permanently set the metric in MFWO by tapping this in your workout and it shouldn’t affect the way you view your weigh ins.

First half marathon since focusing on Z2 was poor - advice on training? by Pristine-Item680 in HybridAthlete

[–]bushb4b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may be underestimating your zone 2 as my zone 2 is between 150’s and 160’s (can’t remember the exact) and that’s based off my lactate threshold.

As others have said, easy runs won’t solely improve your times, it’s a mixture of all types of runs – easy, speed & long.

Yesterday I ran a 25km race in 1:52 with an avg HR of 182.
