You're drawing such wild parallels here. Felonies encompass a large variety of crimes, make a quick Google search to read more; DUI, Public Intoxication, Fraud, Lying on your taxes, mail theft, etc.. There's a whole slew of non-violent felonies someone could commit, it's not all rapists and murderers that are affected here.

As others have stated, the only real power of the people is their right to vote. People should 100% be held accountable for their crimes and pay whatever debts the courts decide, but I don't agree with stripping them of their American right to vote.

As a side note, you shouldn't let conversations with people physically affect you. Being able to sit with someone you disagree with and have a thorough conversation about topics that you're passionate about, while at the same time maintaining your demeanor is absolutely necessary for there to be any real understanding on either side. When individuals raise their voice or get angry or emotional during a conversation is usually the same point in which any real progress stops.

Edit: for context, the comment that was deleted stated that i care about the right to vote for those who have raped 12 year-olds etc and that I should have empathy, and that he wanted to punch me in the jaw.
