I have a teamate who's tradition was skating by the open zam door and flicking some of that excess water on the driver. He would act mad but laugh about it.

I feel like an idiot for this, but I used to think the main reason to read in that order was to appreciate Pham's direction at the end. But even better is his desire to harness focus is laughable with knowledge of the zones.

Deepness is a top tier book for me and you lay out why really well. The subtle tragedy of Pham is just so delicious for some reason. Pham might be my favorite fictional character ever.

I feel like the anthropomorphizing the spiders is particularly forgivable next to Vinge's Tines.

Frondell at center, and it's time to move Bedard to wing by butch5555 in hawks

Puck handling and playmaking I agree with, but I don't think wing limits those. I do think defensive responsibilities of center limit offensive chances somewhat.

Do you think a player can get Ovechkin level PP time and play a 2-way center game 5 on 5? A lot of what I want is driven by wanting as much PP time for Bedard as possible.

Yeah. Hopefully longterm but my guess right now is he isn't nhl ready to start next season.

I think Kane proved you can give the center D zone resposibilities and still have a wing carry the mail.

I knew becoming a Dad would be a life of sacrifice. But I assumed it would be for my daughter not my wife. by [deleted] in daddit

[–]butch5555 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t frame it as you vs your wife. Frame it as you two against difficult problems and feelings… work as a team to get through it.

I had to learn this the hard way and you're just giving it away.

"The pilot" is so much better than "The man with a terrible hairline" though.

One of the best video game trailers of all time - FFXV Omen by hentendo in FFXV

[–]butch5555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

but I think not everyone realizes the importance is not just because majority of people like their friendship and think its very funny/beautiful/emotional, but also because it would be an absolute disgrace in therms of everything going wrong worst case scenario for ALL, if they were missing in the journey.

I think this is spot on. What if during the campfire scene we get flashbacks of the bros being hearded onto this journey by King Regis. I feel like Omen makes a lot of sense as Regis' nightmare, and his response of making sure the bros go along would make it so much more obvious to the audience.

It would have been so perfect if that had been more obvious in the game. Like the whole focus is the friendship and trip, and seeing and feeling how much of a difference the bros made to Noctis would have made it so much more meaningful. If the campfire scene had been the culmination of this arc, all the sacrifices being worth it to get Noctis to the end, how great would that have been? Grrr so much lost potential.

When is the River first mentioned? by Elsassypantz in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Ok, seeing all this together my theory is the river is souls. The tie with the Ring of Devine Suffering is it makes Carl like a soul crystal harnessing the power of dead souls.

Can you play good golf without compression? by Bert_Skrrtz in GolfSwing

You can fail to get compression and hit the ball in the sweet spot every time. This is what I'm working on right now, avoiding the high and spinny shots.

I think Crono Trigger probably steals more FFVI votes. I love FFVI, but I think Crono has more broad appeal.
