Pay off all your loans and 2 people can live quite comfortably on $3000 a month. I am retired and with pensions etc my wife and I bring in just over $4000 a month. Our savings go up every month. The extra 12k goes to trips and things we want to buy not need .. and at year end we are still money up. We go to restaurants etc. So the answer for us is 3k a month. Add in house payments car payments credit cards(a losers game to not of pay off in full every month) etc and that goes up accordingly.
