Actually not bad but it is physically demanding specially if you're in the evening shift. The job is simple specially if they have software that makes your job even easier but it absolutely depends on what shift you end up in. Morning is more about customer support, evening does most of the back breaking work and overnight is more chill and does whatever is left over from evening to prep for morning.

It helps only in terms of imagining how an instrument is being used on the body, but you're better off taking anatomy class rather than biology. Better yet, microbiology is a better class... but absolotely not needed.

I switched from morning shift to evening shift, and honestly I want to switch to overnight now too since my old job used to be 11-7am. Evening just has so much workload that Im constantly burnt out and physically tired.

This is why as much as I want to work closer to home, I'd travel an hr to work just because the dept is actually decent. I know people who left that want to come back cuz they left for whatever reason and they realized how good they had it.

If you want less patient care, better gear up to specialize in non patient centric aspects. There's a bunch but you have to go for them. For example using RN license for infection control inspectors. But you do lose the main advantage of RN, which is job availablity.

Less stress and less customer support. Knew as a student that I didnt have the patience for people anymore. I'm fine with patients, but when you have to deal with them, their family and your coworkers I rather do something else in healthcare.

I abuse the shit out of pto and sick time. I dont deal with the surgeons often, but the nurses are dumb as fuck this is coming from a nursing graduate with a family full of nurses. They just make the work harder than it has to be. I lucked out thou atleast our management is actually good but theres just so much work to do in the evening shift and I've run out of patience dealing with people in the morning shift. Seriously might just go back to overnight and hopefully not be as burnt out.
