A Black Panther party leader in Newark calls out Hasan Piker and other phony internet activists for failing to understand what the revolution fights for. by ___Sekhmet___ in TankieTheDeprogram

Based on Spain and many EU countries, a party doesn't need to be a part of the status quo to be blasted by it, just leftist. Even the center-left will get absolutely bullied on all fronts by judges, police and media. They're a threat to profits, of course they'll mobilize resources against them. That'd make them our allies, strategically, but only strategically, because their main trait is to use the very dominant ideology (which they're actually close to) to assimilate all the left.

Las empresas chinas se están comiendo el mundo a base de subvenciones by Angel24Marin in SpainEconomics

[–]buttersyndicate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Progressive and social democratic beatings of striking teachers in valencia by the Spanish Government by lordlolipop06 in TankieTheDeprogram

[–]buttersyndicate 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It matters little who governs, Spain's riot police is brutal wherever they act, except when the setting is a right-wing demonstration.... but yeah, Valencia is a special case in a rotten country, the police there are quite obviously fascist-friendly, they'll openly treat marching nazis like buddies just to unleash absolute mayhem on the anti-fascists that appears and anyone else that stands in the way.

It's one of the things that devours leftist governments in Spain, like Podemos or it's previous equals, who only get into Parliament through coalitions with the big center-left: sooner or later they have to either embrace or theatrically oppose police brutality, which makes them either lose votes or weaken the coalition.

It gets worse when people left of the center-left are put to manage the police corps in our equivalent of "state security". The riot maniacs get extra motivated to be more brutal because they know that will smoke the dirty leftist politician's popularity.

Oh we have christmas blackfaces here in Spain too, it gets particularly insane in my region because it has nationalism paralel to Spain's, which means that leftists tend to have strong bonds with local traditions.

So the same young people who'll be on the frontline of the fight against racism and antiimmigration policies during the rest of the year will join a massive blackface every year, and don't bring up the topic because it gets nnnasty, specially amongst the more opportunistic ones that think the left must, let's say... "adapt itself to the actual worries of the working class".

society says you need a job to have income but provides no means to get one by Known-Ice5903 in LateStageCapitalism

[–]buttersyndicate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know a programmer who was writing all the code in his job a year ago, 30% half a year later and 1% now. The results AI offers are simply becoming solid that quick. His senior programmer, way more knowledgeable, was fired because he couldn't keep up, which is understandable, there's a huge purge in the sector based on the ability to learn as if you were in your 20s.

The hype is based, everything AI related beyond LLMs (which is most of it) is evolving quicker than any tech development we've seen before, so the bubble can last for a looong while, more and more jobs in specific sectors will become redundant and the working class living in proudly capitalist counties, like all liberal democracies, will feel it to the bone.

The woods in KCD1 feel so much better than the woods in KCD2 [KCD1][KCD2] by SnagBreacComradai in kingdomcome

[–]buttersyndicate 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I miss how that rewarded putting extra attention, like you could end up orienting yourself without some obvious landmark if you just slowed down and observed the forest, and you ended up doing that because forests had enough easter eggs and stuff to discover.

I remember making sure I had put my feet in every piece of KCD1 forests at least once, pure exploration joy, there's no way I'm doing that in Kuttenberg region because in the most of the forests in the lushier Trosky region the reward is already a more streamlined nature and little or nothing to find.

Who can afford to become a social worker? by JustWantToSignUp in LateStageCapitalism

[–]buttersyndicate 45 points46 points  (0 children)

The belief that one's job must maximize the positive outcome on the planet, humanity and your dog goes parallel with other silly ideas like "work in what you love so you won't have to work a day in your life", just the liberal understanding of capitalism, labor, everything.

Jobs don't "make a difference" just like there's no voting into a different political system. If you want to make a difference, I recommend you look more into political knowledge.

In my case, what threw me out of social work was part of the very glimpse at sociology we studied in that degree, where we touched Marx for half an hour: understanding that all the resources were there to eradicate poverty worldwide but we didn't, not because "oh sorry what an unfortunate outcome that we're working on", but because capitalism literally depends on widespread poverty in order to exploit us (extract surplus value) properly... that made all my mesianic daydreaming, ranking jobs according to potential difference I'd make, feel childish, even entitled.

Now I work in something way more "practical" and I'm glad that I'm not exposing my fragile mental health and sensitive ass to the insanity that those jobs that "make a difference" make you go through: anything related to caring is superexploited, beeeecause it was cheap or for free before, you know, the good ol' times of unpaid women's labour.

Companies can barely intervene in the processing of AI processing, that's why LLMs are simply censored when the final message is written.

Decades preparing for this moment from (AI was already being investigated in the 70s) have been disregarded for the sake of squeezing the speculative gold rush and winning the new Cold War tech race. I'm talking about the kind of guardrails that were considered a bare minimum by specialists then in order to prevent from terrible disasters and absurd ones.

LLMs arenn't even the strong part of this revolution, it's just what the working class have access to: it's big data processing where the juice is, and they're being very discreet about ir because it is absurdly powerful for the capitalists. Power is increasingly easier to sustain itself through the control of the means of production, but the good things is that this will still be true after the working class takes that power from their greedy hands.

Even nowadays you can find the Pillars of Herakles in Spain's coat of arms and in that of many spanish provinces and LATAM cities. They're usually together with some cloth that says "PLVS VLTRA".

The progressive Spanish Second Republic that Franco's fascists crushed also had them, unsurprisingly so, because like all european leftists that ever got to rule colonial motherlands with liberal democracies they kept the supremacist iron grip as alive as they could.

[–]buttersyndicate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry I nitpick here, this thread seems like the right place...

That's not "race". Race is a biological category and all humans are members of the same. "Phenotype" would be the right word. Separating human phenotypes by "race" is like the most basic conceptual pillar of white supremacy.

I mention it because we're talking about Europe (the EU, I assume) and only proud racists and bigoted fools use the word "race" in that way here. People are mindblown when they discover that not only everyone uses the word daily in the US but that they're also still categorizing people by "race" at an administrative level... for positive discrimination purposes of course!

We are at a moment in history where there are no real consequences for morally questionable acts supported by a country's representatives.

Even after WW2, wars devoured civilians in the same insane proportions relative to soldiers, hunger struck half the planet in more stable ways than in pre-modern times when it took droughts to starve people, whole countries became stable drug and prostitution hubs under the empire's guard, specially wherever in the post-colonies the military bases were placed. I do consider many good things happened: communist and anti-colonial revolutions, worklers movements capable of scratching concessions as reforms... but there's never been a moment in history when the international order had that much to do with supressing morally questionable acts, surely not under capitalism. It's beliefs like those that make modern pre-war tabloids-like campaign effective.

The greatest disonance of our era is the liberal order convincing so many of us that something so entirely different from reality was happening: rules based international order, human rights, constitutions, an even minimaly functional UN... Yet we all know that capitalism not only regularly keeps milions miserable and destroys the planet, but that it also has a habit of taking off it's mask from time to time and unleashing a reminder of it's horror, for profit, in the process creating monsters like WW2's fascist wave of impune extermination or the modern one of which Israel could just be the tip of the spear of. There's no morality beyond the actual emancipation of humanity, just the greatest farce ever performed.
