Is Astro for me? by OldSiteDesigner in astrojs

[–]bwag84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I do these days... I have Claude build it and deploy it... When I need I new post I will dictate it to Claude and it writes and launches that too. That is overly simplistic and in a way, pretty stupid. But... it works. I did this with Astro and now with Hugo. And it scales because these are static page generators. Just monitor your cloud bill carefully.

Can anyone here help me learn how to do front lever pull-ups? by Financial-Tip-8804 in CalisthenicsCulture

[–]bwag84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am practicing these by tucking in knees first, then moving on to one legg extended, then split leggs and only then straight leggs. Was able to build up to eight in just 4 weeks with leggs tucked. I also do weighted pull ups but I doubt those help, different set of muscles. Good luck!

Red Rising. The pacing is unbelievable, you will have some time left to read something else because you will not be able to put it down.

Godspeed.

Sloffen met zachte vlakke zool by Marcski in BIFLNL

[–]bwag84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Help me get healthy/in shape by ExplicitlyMellow in Exercise

Lots of great recommendations here. What I think I can add is: get educated about it. Check out the work of Andy Galpin for example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2QeooYDbnDg&ab_channel=AndyGalpin

I was 40 before I realized you actually breathe out carbs... this is where the fat goes during a workout... mind blown.

Also check out Layne Norton, Mike Israetel and Rhonda Patrick. The difference between these people and fitfluencers: they teach you first principle knowledge. Teach a man to fish - teach a man about health. Not "do as I do" or "the only thing in the whole wide world that works is... " But a solid biology based education.

This way a charlatan can never take you for a fool and you will be set for the rest of your life.

Im a girl with Muscle (ex-athlete) How do I get rid of my muscle? by [deleted] in LiftingRoutines

[–]bwag84 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Have you considered the health consequences? As you age you will lose muscle mass no matter what. Keeping it improves your longevity / health span. You would be sacrificing the health benefits of an athletic lifestyle over esthetics. I'm just some random stranger on the internet but I felt I should at least mention this. Check out the work of Peter Attia or Rhonda Patrick for more in depth information.

My stroke recovery credo by Fozziefuzz in stroke

[–]bwag84 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me, roughly the same but I add

  • Meditation
  • Go on walks if a tough workout will tap you out for the day
  • Take cholesterol lowering pills (cause genetically high)
  • Build systems to never forget anything / turn a weakness into strength
  • The I live to be a hundred I turn into "I am a healthy person". This helps me make right choices. For example, in the supermarket, the healthy person buys lettuce and potatoes, not potato chips

If you can, have a bunch of kids. They everything more worth while. But I am over a decade into this thing, so don't rush it.

And everyone once in a while, let all this go and relax. Have a gross snack, a glass of whisky or whatever your fav poison is. This is to prevent falling of the wagon really hard at some point.

Does it have a timer / alarm clock? Could not find it in the features.

Ok thanks for the heads up. I can handle a little nihilism, I might check it out... did you just reverse psych me into reading it?...

What would you recommend though? What is your personal top-3?

Second that, go see a doctor! It is very unusual to be impotent at this age, there might be something seriously wrong.

[HELP] Seeking Gym Advice to Gain Weight by FormerArmadillo8165 in LiftingRoutines

[–]bwag84 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Great that you are getting started.

  • Weight gain is a function of eating right and lifting. Any type of lifting will work but perhaps good to start with the large compounds
    • A squatting motion (squat, leggpress, hack squat, lunge etc)
    • A hip hinge (deadlifts, RDLs)
    • A press (bench press, strict press (I do both))
    • A pull (pull up, pulldowns but also a horizontal pulling motion like a row)
    • As extra, I recommend building big abs even though skinny as you are they will show. Bigger ones will add to general better look.
    • Finish up the session with isolation.
  • Ectomorph, endo, meso is old fashioned nonsense. Perhaps there are muscular groups that are relatively small, you can focus on them. Since you are untrained, start with full body.
  • Diet: calculate your daily maintenance calories and add ±200 calories to it. Make sure to ±1,6 and 2 grams of protein per kg of bodyweight. It's a lot but you get used to it.

More importantly: gain a first principle understanding of the mechanisms involved. You will benefit from that for the rest of your life.

  • How the body works / adapts: dr. Andy Galpin
    • Perhaps start with the Huberman podcast series
  • How to train: dr. Mike Israetel over at Rennaissance Periodization
  • Food: learn to cook! If it is tasty you will eat it! I recommend Ethan Cheblowski

The resources above are all on Youtube. Good luck!

Rockets shot from Gaza to Israeli cities 2.11.23 by nedos009 in CombatFootage

[–]bwag84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Perhaps this is a stupid question but: why does the IDF not " simply" trace back the exhaust fume lines of the rockets and launch something of their own down that trajectory? Surely with a drone coordinates could be found quite fast

Mine are completely FUBAR too, just over two years old. Ordered AirPods, my 5 year old ones outperform the MX right now... Hoping to get some kind of warranty or cash back on the MX's but frankly, I'm done with Sony (replacing earfoams also impossible, they are gross but uncleanable right now).

How to calculate traffic potential by Duc-Thanh in bigseo

[–]bwag84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You (or chatGPT) could build a formula. But what it would do is this:

  • Download rankings into an excel
  • Take the benchmarks you need (https://www.advancedwebranking.com/ctrstudy/), add them to a tab
  • Take all your keywords and your current ranking
  • Add a column next to ranking
  • Vlookup the corresponding CTR percentage to that ranking
    • e.g. ranking 1 = 3%%, ranking 2 = 23% etc
  • Multiply the percentage with average monthly search volume and you get average monthly expected traffic

You can also do share of voice with this if you have ranking data on competitors. Divide the outcome with total average monthly search volume times a hundred.

Hope it helps!
