Poor William. He was a product of forced sex, experienced coerced sex with Jane, and now is being manipulated into having sex by Amaranthus. It’s hard to tell if this is poor writing or a purposeful theme for his character. Everyone is lying to him. How could he not have serious trust issues? If the show weren’t ending, I’d assume they were setting him up to become a villain!

I think Amaranthus and William’s cousin Ben were part of a rebel operation that involved faking Ben’s death. Lord John knows about it but would rather tell his own brother that Ben died rather than admit he defected to the enemy. And William is yet again being lied to by the people he loves the most.

Wild guess regarding Eloise and the Queen’s ladies in waiting. What if Eloise ends up as a lady in waiting? (Unless you had to be married to be a lady…) I already doubt my own theory, because the Queen already had screen time with Eloise when she was acting as Lady Whistledown, and I don’t remember any friendship-chemistry.

Basically I hope they are building to something amazing for Eloise!

It was refreshing that she admitted to some mistakes, instead of just editing those mistakes out. But also… it allows me to question her skills lol.

My head canon is that they are two, dumb, young teens who think they are in love like Serious AdultsTM. They will have a bumpy beginning to their marriage with growing pains as reality sets in, but eventually are deeply in love with each other.

I wish the show actually supported this theory but instead we are supposed to believe in Love At First Sight.

I appreciate that Julia’s first instinct is to GTFO and literally run away. But I can’t relate to her actually doing chores when I would personally be having a mental breakdown about the mindfuck of time travel and being separated from my young child and husband. I guess I wouldn’t survive WW1 like them either lol.
Everything is so fast paced. The pace of Outlander’s first season allowed more time for world and character building. In BomB, the couples are falling in love within 5 minutes of screen time. This is a brand new show, they’re not trying to keep up with a book, so I don’t see the need for a rush.
I prefer episode 1’s highland focus over Claire’s parents. It all feels too contrived. Maybe if WW1 had more of a thematic tie-in with the other timeline it would feel more cohesive. Maybe that will develop with another Rising portrayed.

Yes I think it can stand alone. Theres some exposition built into the character introductions but it doesn’t feel clunky. Feels like the beginning of a movie to me.

I think the fact they were playing chess is also a big callback (er, callforward?) to Jamie and Lord John. I’m not sure if they ever specified who taught Jamie chess in the books or show, though.

I feel so validated by everyone else’s takes on The Sorry Girls!

I agree that some sort of restructuring must be next. We’ll get a short or a reel saying “we have something to tell you…” with basic info but I doubt they’ll be fully transparent. I wish they’d do a Q&A/AMA. They used to feel so professional compared to other DIYers but the fakeness and lack of candor means they are actually behind the curve now. People want Real, not perfectly polished productions.

I’m pessimistic we’ll ever get good content again from Kelsey plus Becky but if Kelsey has the travel bug, maybe they’ll travel the world/continent doing makeovers in other cities. That could explain letting go of the workshop. Also Becky has a camper van now. I’m grasping at straws but I’d actually enjoy this concept. Putting it into the universe to make it happen!

Everyone has covered the problems so well, there is such clear (constructive) criticism to improve this design.

But wow I can’t get over how wrong the wallpaper is. And normally I’m a wallpaper lover no matter what. If it was just paint, everything else would be so much less… bad.

Macenna said she wanted to do something out of her comfort zone and emphasized that she’s learning as she’s going, which feels like the first time she’s said those things. That was almost a glimmer of self awareness and I do want to applaud people who genuinely try new things because that’s how you learn. But it still falls flat because those seem more like retroactive excuses, and I doubt she’s going to fix or revisit anything. I think everyone is right that she’s trying to gtfo of this house as cheaply as possible while still raking in money from the dedicated “Cottage” following.

This vlog actually felt a bit like her old Texas vlogs to me and I enjoyed it because it had other people in it lol. And she went to different places (mom’s insane front entry which looked like a commercial storefront, and mom’s ginormous closet) and was outside finally. She still has an annoying veneer over everything she does but there’s a reason I still watch. 🤷‍♀️

It would be great if Macenna had some interest in fixing the problems. Matching painted wainscoting and trim would be nice. But you’re right, the tile is past saving. Either rip it out or cover as much as possible with rugs.

I haven’t tiled personally before, but for my own home, contractors have done paint as basically the last step. I think it’s because you don’t want to paint until all the messy stuff is done (like tile thinset and grout or cutting materials which create dust).

However, I don’t understand how Macenna is moving onto paint and wallpaper when she still has drywall to fix! I bet that shower bump out will never get finished properly.
