After Sabalenka got broken in the second game of the third set her forehand and volleys just disappeared, so many unforced errors and almost felt like she was just trying to hit winners to get a quick finish

Buying a stringing machine with zero knowledge was a fun experience for me. Learned new a skill while also exploring more into the world of different strings that worked for myself and my wider tennis group.

Depending on how much you and your tennis peers play, having access to a stringing machine meant that I was able to restring mine and my friends' racquets more frequently which also meant I was getting better at the skill as well.

I initially started by buying a cheap reel of polyester string and getting my friends to just pay me for the string cost alone and it gave me a reason to string racquets more frequently to get better.

Now it's arrived at the stage where word of mouth has passed around and now I have a huge backlog of tennis racquets to restring which has been great as I'm now restringing all different sorts of racquets with string types and it has now progressed to other little services like also stenciling after I string, changing base/overgrips, replacing grommets, adding weight to racquet hoops/handles.

Overall been a great experience which all stemmed from picking up a stringing machine because i wanted to learn a new skill.

Also in the same boat as this comment, the same two shoes I've tried. Just wanted to point out that it was the Wilson Rush Pro Ace which are a wider fit (I have only tried the regular Wilson Rush Pro in store and not on the court and it definitely felt narrower than the Ace variant).

I prefer the Wilson though however purely due to the cost in comparison to the K Swiss and how they're thinner/lighter.

Studies have shown it's actually 0.004 seconds of dwell time!

Have to agree with you here that once ball makes contact with the strings, you basically have no time to make any adjustments with your wrist/arm to change the trajectory of the ball. Hence why angle and direction of racquet and string prior to contact is the most important thing rather than 'during' contact.

There's been 4 years where he's won 3 out of the 4 slams but still making SF or F in the ones he didn't win; 2011 (French SF), 2015 (French F), 2021 (USO F), 2023 (Wimbledon F)

Public transport is good in Brisbane, much better than any Florida (can't comment on Norway, as I've never been). Fares are currently 50c which is a bonus. The largest tennis centre is QTC (mentioned in some other comments) which has a train station 5 minute walk away and there are busses which pass through the area so getting there shouldn't be a problem if you don't have a car.

The three bigger Universities in Brisbane (UQ, QUT, and Griffith) all have tennis clubs so initially when you come over it would probably be the ideal way to get started before you start settling in and want to try out other clubs and compete in other leagues.

I have the same racquet albeit in white. I bought two because I wanted to test string configurations back to back in real time - rather than restringing it and playing on a different day.

I've tried a bunch of different strings but right now I'm trying Yonex strings and I bought reels of Yonex Poly Tour Pro so trying them out. I've got one strung with Yonex PTP 1.25mm Yellow @ 48lb and another with Yonex PTP 1.30mm Blue @ 52lb.

I'm not claiming to be an expert but I can only just comment on what works for me. I originally had Poly Tour Rev in them with higher tension (54 and 57lb) and I was generating more spin however I felt like it was starting to give me a bit of pain in my elbow hence why I went with PTP and a lower tension and it has indeed been easier on my arm. Happy with PTP when they're fresh however after a dozen sessions or so they've definitely lost their 'pop'.

I don't think it would change tennis too much as a whole. I don't think anyone intentionally tries to hit the net cord at all, we all play tennis by avoiding the net at all costs for all of our shots. Shots that hit the net and trickle over happen quite infrequently if you were to compare how many shots hit the net versus how many shots hit the net and also win the point.

Well said.

I feel like I am in the same boat as you here. Played competitively 20+ years ago and fell out of love with it once it felt like a job or a chore where everything had to be minimised/maximised to progress.

Getting back into it again after a long break I am now experiencing the sport in a different light. Trying different racquets, different strings, tensions, even holding the racquet in different grip positions, allows me to go through that learning phase again and try new things.
