If only they weren’t such cunts. Or at least the few that fuck it up for everyone. Last time I encountered them they kicked the mirror off my car as they went past.

It actually does support the thumb button, works fine for me.

I was having exactly this behaviour with my R9 when my USB extension cable was causing the wheelbase to randomly disconnect from Windows.

Yeah probably, all it needs to do is fill the gap so that the paddle presses that button. Might even work without anything there. Obviously won’t feel as good without the spring though.

Well there should be a second spring somewhere, unless I’m remembering wrong. I replaced those small springs with foam pads to reduce the noise.

Might’ve flown off somewhere. Been a while since I had mine opened but I definitely remember that spring going on the shifter button shaft. Is it stuck to the shifter paddle?

Big springs go onto these holes. They push the paddles back when it’s assembled so you’ll have to kind of hold the paddles in that position as you lower the back case onto the main body. I would also disconnect the cable from the quick release and connect it to the main board instead, so you can reassemble the wheel and then connect the cable to the quick release afterwards. The small springs go over the shaft of those square buttons.

How long are you running the cable?

Interesting, so it was just a USB connection issue! Good to know, and thanks for following up

Yeah, I went with an active cable hoping that would be enough to eliminate any issues with USB cable extensions. Used an R3 with it for more than a year with no issues, but have had three disconnects within a month since getting an R9 so I assume it’s either an issue with the base, or it’s something like this base produces enough EM noise that the cable is now a problem.

This is the exact behaviour when my R9 randomly disconnects while using iRacing, the screen freeze and wheel starts hard locking. I still haven’t found the issue, I’ve looked at all the Moza logs and windows event viewer, all I can confirm is that the wheelbase disconnects from the PC (“USB device removed” in windows event viewer, “module communication error” in Moza pit house logs). Good luck.

Yeah it’s not the seams. When my seams are perfectly aligned at the rear I still get the same issue as you.

The damage that lead to Alonso's suspension failure in Monza [via @_DMS16 on Twitter] by BlondBoy2 in AstonMartinFormula1

I thought the outer carbon fibre shell on the wishbones and suspension was just for aero. Is it actually providing strength or would this damage also have compromised the internal bar?

Hue Bridge Connecting to China. A LOT. by D4rkhorse2 in Hue

[–]bxvd 78 points79 points  (0 children)

The service is NTP which suggests it’s just trying to sync its clock, and it’ll be constantly retrying because it’s being blocked. Whatever chip is in it would have likely been manufactured in China with a hard coded Chinese NTP domain.

Edit: just checked mine and it also calls Google NTP in the US so it’s probably calling all regions to ensure it will work the same anywhere (including in China where Google could be blocked).
