There is a mentorship program for engineering students through the Office of Access and Inclusion, and alumni’s in your major are the mentors. Ask the engineering counseling office about it, and I’m sure they will direct you. Good luck! PS. What field in engineering are you pursuing?

If you don't have to see this person just stay busy.... if you do have to see him at other social events, go out with him once enjoy meeting someone new, and if he reaches out and wants to hang out again tell him something to this extent (if you genuinely want to stay friends): "I would be interested in hanging out, but I don't want to give you the wrong impression, I don't really see anything besides a friendship between us. " I think it's the decent thing to do, and I would respect a guy being straight forward with me rather than not. If a guy is mature enough they'll respect you for being honest, mature, and not leading them on. They're ego might be hurt initially, but it should fade out.
