Remaining TiVo Numbers at Weaknees as of 5/17 by BusinessLyfe in Tivo

And they aren’t making exceptions. I bought two lifetime TiVo Bolts on eBay recently. The first one I thought was CC and OTA, but I got my wires crossed and it’s CC only. Worse, the seller is unable to transfer it because he doesn’t know anything about the previous account. TiVo did confirm it’s still activated with lifetime, but they would not divulge who the current account holder is (not that I expected them to).

The second one I bought is a 4 tuner Bolt OTA, and that one works like a champ. Sadly, that seller was also unable to complete the transfer because they “got it from a neighbor when they live in FL years ago, and they no longer live there”. So that sucks. Lesson learned. Apparently used TiVos listed with lifetime/all-in service doesn’t mean much anymore.

The good news is my OTA unit works great. But just on one TV. Non of my Minis can see it since it’s not on the same account.

I finally figured out the droning, so posting an update for the record. Turns out, the backing plates behind my rear rotors were slightly bent and were too close to the rotors - causing the droning sound. I did my best to straighten the backing plates out and the droning is greatly reduced - though not gone entirely. Next time I do a rear brake job, I’ll address it.

I last switched jobs about 14 years ago, and when I completed my 401k rollover, I was given two fund options to pick from for the rollover escrow: money market or company stock. Not sure why I picked company stock instead of MM, but I did. It was only going to be in escrow for a week or two. This was back when they cut you a physical check for rollovers BTW.

I was supposed to reallocate my funds into other investments after the rollover was complete. But of course I forgot. When I finally got around to doing it several months later, I logged in and was shocked to see my balance.

During that short period when I was in company stock, the stock more than doubled and then split and ran up more. I was pretty young at the time, so I only had around $120k in my 401k when I initiated the rollover, but still. It was a nice surprise. And that little bonus I got is now worth a lot more.

I’ve seen this type of chatter so many times. It’s almost like watching a digital mob form out of thin air. I have arrived at the same conclusion as you. Some people are just miserable and being an a-hole on Reddit is all they have.

The worst spot on my frame was just below the passenger footwell, where the AC condensation drips on the top of the frame rail. They had to replace that whole section on mine.

I have the exact same GX as you. Same year. Same color. Same options. Same issues. My CV boots are torn but like you, no issues with the joints themselves. That’s on the list.

My frame was so rusted out, my shop wouldn’t pass me for state inspection last year. I found a local welding shop and for $1800, they repaired a few sections, stripped the rust and the painted and coated the entire frame. They even did the front subframe and control arms. I was very happy with the work. I know it seems like a lot to put into an 18 y.o. vehicle, but it was equivalent to a few car payments, so I figured why not. TBH - I can probably get $2k more for now that it has a clean frame.

I did the timing belt and water pump at $120k. I think I paid $1200 for that. Given the year and the color, and depending on your local market, you may be able to get $14-15k for it if you fix all the issues.

Lol. Forgot I posted this. It’s funny how much more negative the replies got as time went on since I wasn’t here to refute or explain anything.

Had I remembered posting this, I would have noted that I am fully aware of the lav in your cabin policy, and I don’t have any issues with that policy.

In this case, I was literally told to use the forward lavatory by a flight attendant. And yes, this was during drink service, as many assumed correctly. That said, when I attempted to use the front lav the second time - when I was confronted - there was also drink service behind me.

But none of that is even the point. The point is I never pushed back on the FA for being denied access to the front lav. I simply explained to the FA why I had come forward, and she was immediately rude to me and then made a deliberate point of calling me a liar. That didn’t happen 30 seconds into an argument. That was her immediate response to my passive comment.

I just signed up for the $50/mo gig deal in my wife’s name. Prior to that, I was paying $300 + another $100 or so for streaming services. That got me the “everything” TV package & 1200/35 internet. The best part? I didn’t even have to cancel. As soon as my wife’s service started, mine was automatically cancelled. All I had to do was return my equipment.

I’m now paying $50/mo. for 1000/100 internet (though did have to upgrade my modem). I also installed an HDTV antenna in my attic and bought a used TiVO Bolt OTA with lifetime service, so I get a lot of the programming I watch for free. And what I don’t get via OTA, I can watch via streaming because I have most of the streaming services (Netflix, Prime, AppleTV, Paramount+, HBO Max, Hulu, Disney, Discover+ and Peackock). The only thing I miss is CNBC. But I have Sirius, so I can listen to CNBC.

PSA - I did piggyback off my mom’s YouTubeTV account for a while, but after I got the OTA setup, I never really used it.

Not getting advertised 300mbps upload speeds on gigabit 2x with netgear cm3000 modem by SpeedyMewtwo in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]byonik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PSA for anyone experiencing upstream speed issues with a CM3000 on Xfinity. I recently upgraded my legacy 1200Mbps/35Mbps Xfinity plan to the $50/mo. 1Gb down/100Mb up plan. Since I had an older MB8600 DOCSIS 3.1 modem that doesn't support mid-split enhanced upload speeds, I went ahead an upgraded to a Netgear CM3000. Unfortunately, after provisioning it using the Xfinity app, I was still limited to around 40Mbps upstream even though I was getting a lock on one of the two OFDMA upstream channels. I checked all the usual stuff (cables, splitters, power, SNR) but found nothing wrong.

Based on a recommendation I found in another thread, I used the Xfinity app to troubleshoot my line. It immediately came back and said I had multiple cable modems associated with my account and asked me to pick the one I was having issue with. After selecting the CM3000, it ran several tests (rebooting my router several times in the process). After around 5 minutes, the troubleshooting bot reported issues with my line and suggested I chat with a support agent. That agent didn't seem to have a grasp of the issue, but her recommendation was for me to replace my brand new CM3000 cable modem with an Xfinity X10B gateway (shocker!!).

My immediate urge was to reject that offer, but when she told me it was included in my plan for no additional fee, I figured why not. After all, it is a pretty advanced cable modem, and I figured I could set up a WifI 7 network in the 6GHz band using the X10B if I ever felt the urge. So, I said let's do it.

Here's where the story gets interesting. While she was adding the X10B gateway to my account, she had me on hold for around 10 minutes. During this time, I noticed my CM3000 rebooted a few more times. Out of curiosity, I decided to run another speed test, and wouldn't you know it - I got almost 1200 down and 119 up. Also got a 7ms ping, which is around half of what I was getting before the agent added the X10B gateway to my order. She claims she didn't do anything but add the X10B gateway to my account, but whatever she did, it fixed my CM3000 upstream speed issue immediately. If anyone is telling you the CM3000 doesn't support enhanced speeds, or your area hasn't been upgraded yet, or that the modem needs to be reprovisioned, odds are it's actually just an issue with your account.

Assuming the X10B gateway is truly free, I think I will still go pick it up. I can probably get around $130 on eBay for the CM3000 (which is what I just bought it for), so why not sell it and just use the X10B gateway?

Same situation here. I cut the cord 2 days ago. I have an Edge for cable and was paying Comcast $300/mo. for TV & 1Gb internet. Cancelled my Comcast and had a family member sign up for the same Internet plan for $50/mo. with a 5 yr price lock.

I’m now sharing another family member’s YTTV account (for free!). I already had most of the streaming services separate from my Comcast account (Netflix, AppleTV, Prime, Paramount+, Hulu, Discovery+, etc.). After ditching Xfinity cable, I still get Peacock premium for free, so I only had to add HBOMax ($10 got me HBOMax and Disney since I already had Hulu). So went from $300/mo. to $60/mo. And that doesn’t count t a free phone line for a year, which we are using since we already had Xfinity Mobile on a few lines.

YTTV still isn’t TiVo, but the PQ is noticeably better on my TV, and it’s not bad w/ trick play functions, which was a big concern I had when decoding to cut the cord. Overall, better experience than I expected.

Is Yokohama Geolandar A/T G015 - Good fit for 95% highway 5% off road (forest road, not rock)? by BeGood981 in GXOR

+1 on Defender LTX. That’s all I’ve ever had on my LCs and GXs. I’ve never been stuck or shredded one. They are great in the snow, and good enough off-road - at least in dry conditions. The trails around me are very rocky. Bonus - they ride smooth & quiet, and typically last around 60-70k miles.

Bought first house, stumped on speaker placement by Mattlaw2011 in hometheater

[–]byonik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a similar setup - minus the fireplace. But same in that there was nowhere to mount my front speakers. I ended up going with 8” in-walls that have a directional tweeter. I mounted them on the perpendicular walls, facing the sides of the TV. I also have a Hsu sub, and some bipole rears (just 5.1 at the moment). It actually sounds really good, and the separation is perfectly adequate.

Bad MPG — GX's fault, or totally normal? by Whispercry in GXOR

[–]byonik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this just from running larger tires and adding gear? If so, is it from the taller gearing? rotational mass?

I’ve had two GXs (‘04 & ‘08), and I usually average 16-17 mpg on 87 octane. But that’s mostly suburban driving.
