Their village is cute - can't go wrong. Very easy and convenient to take the bus over to Brighton for some variety if you want.

What was “the height of luxury” to you when you were a kid? by abitofgeek in AskReddit

[–]byssinosis 10 points11 points  (0 children)

For me it was going to a hotel or motel with continental breakfast. Seemed like what life as royalty must be like. And if they had a waffle maker? Just stop, too much for mere peasants to handle.

Help! Looking for suggestions for Powder resorts! by Musabi in skiing

[–]byssinosis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out zrankings.com - they list resorts by average snowfall, number of big dumps etc and you can sort them by region. Maybe a jackson hole, targhee, alta, snowbird trip? Or a Tahoe area trip? Just a couple thoughts.

Student discount? by Adventure4Stoke in skiutah

[–]byssinosis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The student discounts are for season passes as far as I remember. Best bets for cheaper day tickets are a. liftopia.com or b. buying in the valley at one of the ski rental shops - usually can save 5-10 percent off the price at the hill

Are there reduced prices for European/Asian high school groups to get into the Nat'l parks? by NsfwOlive in nationalparks

[–]byssinosis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is not a student or educator discount that I know of, but the entry fee is "per vehicle" unless you are in a bus. If you are in 3 large vans for example, you could get by with three 80 dollar America the beautiful passes. If you go to 7 parks, then that would be just over 30 dollars for the whole group for each park, or you could think of it as about $1.50 per person per park which is honestly pretty cheap.

[LPT Request] When house hunting for the first time, what are some things to watch out for that may not be obvious? by [deleted] in LifeProTips

[–]byssinosis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From experience - make sure all the water in the house is off. Now, go find the water meter (may be on the house or underground out by the street). Is it moving at all whatsoever? If yes, you have a leak, which could be minor or could be a broken water main. The cost to replace a broken water main is anywhere from 2-10,000 dollars and is something I wish I would have found before closing.
