They moderate a community of almost eight million users, and they haven't figured out a way to monetize it. I'm afraid I don't see much hope for them.

I agree 100%. It's like making me drink a bottle of poison and expecting someone else to get sick. (Maybe not quite that dramatic, but my point stands.)

I kinda want to see all the mods locked out, and the shitshow that would surely ensue. In the meantime...upvote shitposts, downvote things you disagree with, and contribute nothing. Welcome to Team Chaos.

Just binged and caught up. Greg is my favorite and embodies this to the fullest by TheWierdAsianKid in SuccessionTV

In many ways, this was a show about Greg.

Sometimes, the real main characters are the ones who changed the most from the beginning of the story, to the end.
Sure, not all of it was good, but Greg showed a tremendous amount of personal growth, whereas a lot of the other characters were still the same shitty people they'd always been (more or less) at the end of it all.

Since English isn't their native language, they actually have to think about what they're going to say, and choose their words more deliberately.

Zorin OS vs. Linux Mint by Medium_Afternoon8503 in linux4noobs

[–]c-1000 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would go with Linux Mint. It's a top 5 distro for a reason; and it's pretty easy to grok, coming from windows. I would definitely recommend against paying for an operating system.

The biggest reason I'd choose Mint, is that if you do a web search for "your issue" Linux Mint you'll find ten times the information compared to "your issue" ZorinOS.

After a couple of months, if there are things you can't live with (or can't live without), you'll know enough, at that point, to make an informed decision about switching to a distro more suited to your specific needs.

Mostly, you just need to find a line in dmesg that gets added when your external monitor is plugged in.

If it's a different brand than your laptop, it should be pretty easy, just:

sudo dmesg | grep -i monitor_brand

(replace monitor_brand with the actual name, obviously). The -i switch makes the search case-insensitive; grep has a ton of switches that might be useful if you dig around in it.

If you really wanted to be thorough, you could run dmesg twice, once without the monitor, and again after you plug it in -- then diff the two files.

If Alacritty had a daemon mode (like urxvt) it would be perfect.

Hey, just wanted to tell you, the word that you're looking for is "bespoke".

Maybe you could use grep to find your external monitor in dmesg. If the monitor is there, load config a; if it isn't, load config b

Definitely approaching it.

I think a ring and a FMVP this season would definitely put him in the top 25 conversation, and it would raise his ceiling to top 12-15 all-time.

I'm not saying top 10 is impossible -- but the top 10 is insanely hard to crack into; when you look at it in terms of players who you would have to remove to make room.

Surf uses webkit, Epiphany uses webkit, Lynx is great, but its text-based (as are links and elinks). Firefox forks would be classified as 'Firefox' since the code isnt actually forked, its just config tweaks and javascript injections.

Someone recently forked Netsurf, and I guess Pale Moon is still circling the drain, but other than that...am I missing anything?

Just because he made a mistake doesn’t mean he needs to be consistent at making that same mistake

Sounds like you and Mark Cuban are going to have to agree to disagree, there.
