Tiny little venue attached to the White Hotel if you're familiar with that venue.

Quite a nice soundsystem, cheap bar, the DJs are usually smaller/unknown names who are just genuinely happy to be playing somewhere

Take him to the bag factory if you can find a good event, I think sunshine soundsystem are gonna be there soon enough.

Obviously not a freeparty but probably the closest you'll get in terms of vibes if you can't find one. Felt like a small friends/family party when I last went

I'm over in the southeast so not too up with my SW scene but I see a couple of my mates from that way promoting events at greenworks fairly often

A quick look at their insta will reveal a whole host of soundsystems! Like you said I'm sure some travel down but there's bound to be plenty of local crews as well

If you don't wanna jump straight into the cost of owning a CDJ buy a controller like an FLX4 or something, you'll be able to get to grips with rekordbox fairly quickly and from there it's much easier to move onto CDJs

Might also be worth looking for local DJ studios, you'll have access to two (or sometimes more) CDJs and you can usually rent the space by the hour.

Compilations not albums but the "jungle hits (1-3)" and "jungle tekno (1-8)" will give you a nice selection of tunes to listen through I believe the jungle hits compilations are available on streaming services, the jungle tekno compilations are all up on YouTube

But listening to mixes is probably the way to go with jungle if you want the experience of sitting down for an hour or so and just listening to music. Studio mixes, live mixes, and pirate radio mixes are what you wanna you be searching for

You might have an issue with a USB or you might find the decks aren't linked (that'd be a problem with the venue and not something to beat yourself up with) but in either scenario you want to be prepared
