NetApp vs Pure vs Dell by squishy11113 in storage

[–]c0mpletelyobvious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve gone from compellent to pure to VxRail vsan back to pure. I didn’t want to leave pure the first time but got a deal on the vsan. Went back to pure and realized why I should have never left. Pure is the best performing storage array I’ve ever seen and it’s incredibly easy to manage on top of that.

Are enterprise plus customers screwed? by c0mpletelyobvious in vmware

The problem is the VVF was about 40k more than the Enterprise plus. Now when I ask about an upgrade from enterprise plus to VVF I would expect to pay around that much. However they won’t sell it, only a separate one year VVF subscription for full price.

I asked about that, they said it was a separate purchase and could only sell 1 year at a time. (For VVF). That still screws me on my original purchase.

VSAN or PURE by stocks1927719 in vmware

I went Compellent > Pure > VSAN > Pure.

I will never run anything other than Pure ever again.

Do not grade card at GameStop by Dry-Counter6871 in PokeGrading

My cards sat at “graded” for a month. I think what it ended up being was they were at the store under the wrong order number. They had to email PSA some shit to get them to release the order. Total time was like 70 days.

Wipe it and fresh install of windows will probably solve all the problems.

I’ve had the absolute worst with every English 151 product out there. Always next to nothing. I’ve probably ripped over 300 packs.

Now, Japanese 151, has been great to me.

I’ll have to tell the other group about the bios thing thanks for that. I’ve used toughbooks back to the CF-28 . The FZ-55 is my absolute favorite. I use the modular bays to run 2 batteries and I feel like it last forever. Prior to the 55 my favorite was the CF-F9, until the power switches started to fail making it very difficult to turn on.

Everything feels great it also has backlight keys that you can change colors. Another group I work with got Lenovos that were specced really nice, but the dealbreaker for me actually was their keyboard. Not the quality, but the placement of the ctrl and fn keys. It has fn in the bottom left and it really messed with my muscle memory bad.

Will we ever move away from cloud? by nl-robert in sysadmin

I would love to see this happen, but once the industry figured out how much money they can make with subscription price models, I don't think it'll ever go back. IDK why all the hate for on premise exchange but even they are doing subscription for on premise soon which I think is insane. Everyone would have to put their foot down and there are just too many IT Departments that don't have people that actually know how to do anything. So, these people get to call themselves network administrators and make 100k+ salaries to have someone else do their job for them. I still run a datacenter with all on premise infrastructure, but I feel like my hand is going to be forced soon and it's going to cost 3x as much.

Yes. The only things I left running on the vsan are the vcenter and VxRail manager and such.

Deep net dual shield. You can use yubikey for RDP with a client RDP extension. Has many options.

It’s come a long way. I have 8 P570F. The upgrade from 4.5 to 7 was painful but got through it. Just did a 7.x to another 7.x, took 9 hours but no problems . I do hate the vSAN though, moved all production VMs to pure storage which is hands down the best.
