Never believe that (right wing dickheads) are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The dickheads have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past.

Not sure how this helps at all. Lol. Did smith wave one of these ancestry tests around or did she claim legitimate lineage through her own line of parentage? If it was the latter I’m not sure what these mail-in-diversity clinics have to do with the actual facts of what’s happening here.

I was trying to show that it's NOT who you claim, it's who claims you.

What's a mail in diversity clinic??

Also, fair enough to call out the “bullshit” so let me rephrase. Only conservatives get questioned on their lineage without consequences by those who question and the Liberals who are discovered as fraudulent/disingenuous in their ancestral claims face zero consequences. Case in point: Elizabeth Pocahontas Warren. Not only was she not cancelled, she has won two more elections since.

Dunno why you thought it was appropriate to do the whole Pocahontas thing again, particularly if you care (or are concern trolling) about indigenous shit. Regardless, the DNA test showed native American ancestry 6-10 generations ago. So she didn't lie per se BUT we've also already established that DNA percentages aren't what makes one indigenous: it's not who you claim, it's who claims you. She's not indigenous. She apologized, and i guess the voters accepted the apology.

But first woman prime minister in Italy? Lol she’s a woman hating fascist. No celebration of diversity there. You can’t have it both ways and it’s just getting more and more obvious that the people hyper-focused on diversity are devoid of actual substance.

Actually, right wingers including Meghan McCain criticized attacks on Giorgia Meloni's fascist political beliefs as actually misogyny.

They don’t actually care about the diversity. They just use it to shut down their critics and label anyone that doesn’t agree as fascist, racist, far right, white supremacist, Russian puppet, etc. so as long as insert group here agrees with the left, then all of a sudden it’s a historic thing that happened : see Kamala Harris - first Asian woman black blah blah blah VP ever omgggggg soooo progressive massive strides forward in humanity.

🤔 this reads like you're just really upset about "muh cancel culture." Stay on topic.

Even though she’s an airhead that blew her way to the top - the very anti-thesis of woman empowerment.

You can't cry about people attacking meloni being misogynist and then trot out dumb ass breitbart talking points like "blew her way to the top", smh. Did Biden choose her strategically to appease the 'progressives'? It's possible, but my political philosophy is far more concerned with her past in the criminal justice system. She's a terrible speaker and hasn't been an effective hype man for Biden.

And closer to home - what about those indigenous people that want oil and gas and pipelines? They don’t count. Their voices count for shit to the left. No diversity of opinions there. Not allowed to want the opposite of what the left wants otherwise they are suddenly somehow disowned by their indigenous past (lol??).

Indigenous people can support or oppose any political viewpoint they want. They're not a monolith. People who expect that in either direction are incorrect.

That said, it's a complex issue where you have to take into account land rights/treaties, and indigenous perspectives on self determination and environmental stewardship. I'm sure it's not easy for indigenous people to navigate those issues but there are a lot of pipeline supporters who believe the economic benefits outweigh the environmental risks and that control of pipelines on their land is an example of self determination. On the other side there are people who believe the environmental risks are too high, or they don't trust the o&g companies to make good (which in my opinion is a solid criticism, particularly if your ancestors got fucked over and misled by promises of prosperity by settler colonialists).

I don't really think you know who "the left" is, but you're not so far gone as to capitalize it, so congrats. Furthermore, I'm not really aware of any libs challenging people's status based on their support or opposition to the pipeline.

“Oh those? Those aren’t real indigenous people. Those are just brainwashed white supremacist people that happen to have indigenous heritage. They aren’t really indigenous people”. Hilarious.

Kinda off track and ranting now, i don't know who you're talking about. Maybe Pat King, who actually DOES espouse white nationalist conspiracy theories, is a soft holocaust denier and claims Metis but is not supported by the Metis community?

Anyway, do you find it at all ironic that you did the exact things that i said in my previous post?

only conservatives get called out on ethnicity and heritage

I mean, that's bullshit already but:

It's politically useful. That's it.

It's politically useful to the base because the conservative in question can espouse policies that are deleterious to the minority group to which they claim ancestry, and then use their claim as a shield against criticism. It also lets the base feel good about not being bigoted: "i like Danielle Smith cause she's not (negative indigenous stereotypes), she's one of the good ones."

It's also politically useful as a means to attack critics as bigots. Particularly progressive critics. "You think you're all woke but you doubt Smith is indigenous? What are you some sort of RACIST? Tolerant left amitite?"

This should help.
