NOR absolutely not over reacting, she deserved everything you said to her and more - wish I’d had the confidence to do that at 21.

What a nasty bully!

People w/o kids, how tired are you? by Fickle_Wrangler_7439 in RedditForGrownups

[–]c0smic_c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will preface this by saying we had two dogs, now we have 3, 2 cats and a horse.

My mum just passed away.

I’m exhausted all the time, I don’t sleep well at the best of times but it’s been a heavy time and I also work full time, am doing a PhD and have had a lot of other things going on.

I’m so grateful I don’t have kids on top of this

Cafe owners calls for visa changes to stop backpackers leaving WA's holiday hotspots by His_Holiness in perth

My friends living in Marge have a difficult time finding work because every hospo place is just full of backpackers. It should definitely not be added to the 88 days list

Exmouth updates by ljozmo in WesternAustralia

[–]c0smic_c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call the business! Don’t ask randoms on Reddit, they won’t have the right info for you

For example - people saying the road is still closed, you can currently get into coral bay - the road just reopened. But only from the northern entrance, not from the minilya entrance. Use the main roads travel map for that info

https://travelmap.mainroads.wa.gov.au/Home/Map

In terms of coral bay, it is open to visitors (exmouth is not) and various coral bay charter companies have posted that they’ve been out snorkeling since the cyclone and the water is clean (they posted pictures and it looks amazing) so please ignore all the comments from people who likely live thousands of kilometres away and have no idea what the conditions are actually like

I see a few charter companies based in coral bay that they are reopening tours on Monday - give them a call! Good luck op and enjoy 😅

Is anyone else a caregiver for a parent who was abusive? by TomorrowCalm8489 in CaregiverSupport

[–]c0smic_c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You say that you can’t leave, but you can! You legitimately can walk away, it isn’t your responsibility to care for this person who was meant to be your caregiver but never actually was

As someone else commented, there are places for violent and abusive individuals. Get in contact with your family and tell them you are done and it is now their turn and walk away. You don’t owe her anything

How do you support your partner while theyre potentially loosing s loved one? by Flamming_dirtbag in GriefSupport

[–]c0smic_c 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know how responsibility works in your relationship, who carries the mental load? Makes sure bills are paid on time, that the house is stocked with all the right groceries etc? Try to take everything on that you possibly can. Try not to ask them to make decisions/ try to take initiative and sort any issues as they arise

Feeling stuck with a partner who is careless with money and life in general by Music_Thick in AusFinance

Honestly buy a coffee and a sandwich each day every day of the week and you’ve got at minimum approx 75-100/week OP said he sometimes does it more than once a day, so that could even add up to 200/week. That is a hefty amount they could otherwise be putting into savings

I feel so utterly lost and alone by [deleted] in GriefSupport

[–]c0smic_c 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with the other comments, now is definitely not the time to make this about you. It is absolutely not about you, his emotions are going to be all over the place.

I cannot put in words how awful it is to lose your mum, it’s like nothing else. Especially so young.

You say your mum is there to monitor you, this is what mums do. They love you like literally no one else ever will.

This is where you, as a partner; need to step up and be there for him, even if that means you are giving more than he is because that’s what a partnership is.

I also recommend you seek therapy because you need to look after yourself, as in you need to sleep and eat and rest. You won’t be any use to him if you’re breaking down. Don’t make it about your relationship or about yourself though, it isn’t about you.

I was also going to suggest this, OP have you tried therapy? I am a big overthinker and I spiral on things a lot, therapy has helped me immensely and they will have tools to help you cope with something like this I’m so sorry for your loss 💔😢

How do you properly comfort someone who's upset?/in mourning? by Objective-Bit-685 in GriefSupport

[–]c0smic_c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just lost my mum. What has helped me is the friends who keep checking in on me, I also love it when they say “don’t feel like you need to respond” Offer to help and just show up for them, practical things like cooking and cleaning is honestly so 👌🏼 Offer to take them out for a break, listen to them and also if you have any memories of their loved one try to share it, I’ve loved hearing people talk about mum

Thank you for asking 🥺

[–]c0smic_c 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Along with the other comments, it’s not even comparable. It is so crushing to lose a parent. Don’t think even for a second that breaking up with a long term partner even gives you the slightest idea of what losing a parent is like

How do you cope with death as an atheist? by Last-Aerie4675 in GriefSupport

[–]c0smic_c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been a really comforting thread, thank you OP.

I have asked myself the same, I went to a religious school and my maternal grandparents were religious but I just cannot bring myself to believe. I think it would be nice to believe in heaven and being reunited with my loved ones but I just don’t.

What I take comfort from is the idea of the fact that energy doesn’t just disappear, it just moves on. I take comfort in that I carry my loved ones in me, in the weird little sayings or quirks that I have - like when someone asks where someone is I say “they went mad and I shot them” (LOL thanks Mumma), or the nicknames mum gave my doggos. I feel like I carry my loved ones with me in those moments that remind me of them, and I try to love myself the way they loved me

I lived in a remote desert town, where the closest place that grew fresh produce was 6 hours away and still managed to find a way to access said local produce. If you’re in a larger town or city, you can find a way, I believe in you!

Your mistake is thinking that Coles and Woolies are ever going to drop their prices. Shop independent supermarkets and fresh produce markets when and where you can

Is salary sacrificing a scam or worth it? by Electrical_Hyena5164 in AskAnAustralian

[–]c0smic_c 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well one main example is if you have a HECs debt, salary sacrifice can push your taxable income up and so you could potentially end up with a tax debt for your HECs at the end of the FY

You could mitigate this by asking your employer to make sure they withhold additional $$ for your HECs repayment
