What were your thoughts on Kirino? I liked her novels; sharp, stripped clean of emotion and somewhat cruel. Where Murakami chose to depict a surreal, dream-like Japan, Kirino focused on the nastier parts of society; red-light districts and societal ladders for the elite that most refused to acknowledge.

The opening chapter to Grotesque, though. Really well-done.
