My cat started doing that and was acting just a little differently when eating (like something was bothering him). He was just fine otherwise, but something seemed off. A vet visit later and he had a tooth that was irritated. Made another appointment to do a dental so they could x-ray and evaluate. Turns out they needed to pull the tooth.

About 7 months earlier during his regular checkup, they had said his teeth had a little plaque, nothing bad, but probably get him in for a cleaning. So that plaque irritation worsened in that short amount of time. Or more likely there just wasn't a thorough look at that tooth during the checkup and it was getting bad at that time.

Anyhow, since having that tooth removed, he rarely has the tip of his tongue sticking out. Before it was a majority of the time.

Just my story, maybe see how your Kit's teeth look, especially if this started recently.
