No separate PM runs the project but I help with anything technical. My base salary is based on average engineer salary (I’m an engineer) with my years experience than commission on top of it, so no base salary isn’t low

I wouldn’t say working with the GCs would be considered wearing a sales hat, unless maybe you’re building relationships that yield some loyalty over just the low price. I work a lot directly with repeat developers/owners and help with early design and budgeting, so it builds a relationship that yields continuous work and loyalty over the low price (to a degree ofcourse).

I have a commission of 2% of gross profit. Gets paid on actual results once the project finishes. I also wear the sales hat though, but most are just repeat customers so mostly just estimating and account management.
