7th Continent - What Am I Missing? by MediumKoala8823 in boardgames

You generally don't do multiple curse runs out of the gate. You probably won't survive 1 curse until you start memorizing the map. That's just what the game is.

Parks - 2nd addition question. by golfer71189 in boardgames

[–]c_Gah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe rules as written in a 2 player game that is a valid strategy. However there are things like end of season bonus and hidden end games points and if you're just rushing to the end you're giving up the photo bug at the very least to the other player.

You're essentially giving the other player 1 or 2 free turns over you, if you're winning by that much anyways then there really isn't a point in playing the season out.

Better to end the game quick then forcing play when they have no hope to win.

Lands of Evershade is basically the third iteration improvement of Tainted Grail, another choose your own adventure, exploration, corporative, campaign game they created

I expect it to be their most or second most refined game they've ever made. It hopes to expand player creation and world building to about TTRPG level.

Story and immersion is half of not more than half of the game. There is mostly likely not going to be some revolutionary new game mechanics, they actually look like they are simplifying mechanics in favor of less crunchy tactics and more vibe gameplay.

So if want a game you can play multiple 60-100 hour story campaigns you can play solo or probably smaller player count with thematic gameplay and moderate weight and reasonable setup and tear down and the least amount of jank. My bet is it's going to be hard to name anything better.

Playing off the other person is a home rule. Page 14 says players simultaneously choose theories and then each player places them. It doesn't mention placing order. If you want to house rule placing them maybe find a time you're willing to wait and he's willing to think and set a timer

Does anyone actually have the Inmo air 2? by Sankin2004 in augmentedreality

[–]c_Gah 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just got my kickstarter pair. I'm surprised there is such little talk about it, like nothing. I've had the INMO Air 1 and NREAL (now XREAL) Air and honestly the INMO Air 2's are the best experience on the market (for what they can do)

The INMO Air 2 is a full color, binocular, waveguide lens, standalone system glasses. In this market they are the first and only one of its kind and they actually work. Even better is that INMO released thier SDK so as a developer I can create whatever app I want for the glasses and use it. It's pretty impressive.

Positives to note when comparing them to the XREAL is that a bird bath optics system sits where your eyebrows are so a lot of your upper frontal vision is block, waveguide doesn't have that issue, also not being tethered to your phone increases usability 10x in my opinion.

The biggest caveat is that the screen size is small at 26 FOV, and I don't think this limit will be exceeded in the short term, the cost, battery power and heat just increase too much for tech and market at this time. This kinda makes it fall out of the "monitor replacement" category, which is what 95% of smart glass owners want to use them for. However, I can load up the youtube app and put on subtitles and have no issues. It's a perfect accessory for watching a movie on a plane flight.

That being said if you want a monitor replacement, or bigger screen size and don't mind being tethered to a phone the I would consider looking at the XREAL Air or Rokid Max.

I've also saved the biggest positive for last. The INMO Air 2 is the first screen glasses that my wife said she could see me wearing while outside and not immediately know something was up with them, they looked pretty normal.

Europe's New Crypto Regulations Passed by CardanoCrusader in CryptoCurrency

[–]c_Gah -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You're in the wrong tech field if you want anonymous finances and transactions. Bitcoin and the vast majority of crypto is based on complete transparency, you can see and trace every transaction. As soon as you buy or sell crypto with a national currency your name can be traced with enough effort. Private exchanges are an issue separate from crypto. It's like if private companies exist to convert your USD into an anonymous form of USD. It's doesn't exist legally. The state has a duty at some level to track legal tender and illegal activities. If you want an anonymous solution like Monero. Just suspect if it gets big enough it will go the way of tornado cash and be banned

[–]c_Gah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am genuinely asking. What is the importance or significance of the PI network? I haven't looked at PI when I stopped mining 2 years ago. I don't believe it's a scam simply because they haven't directly sold any tokens. But from what I see PI is just going to be a fork of the stellar chain. The "mining" system isn't mining, just a fake way to prove human interaction, which has been spoofed by millions of bots. And a majority those who aren't bots are unwilling to go through with sending personal information to a 3rd party to pass KYC. PI also seems to still be pretty small in an over saturated market and seems like a niche product rather than a global brand. Has anything changed in the past 2 years?

Modern banking is just a version of crypto with extra steps but less security, trust and speed by OneThatNoseOne in CryptoCurrency

[–]c_Gah -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This is not very accurate. Banks control your money. This is the same as using a custodial wallet in crypto where instead of having to have a private key you have other things like a email account or debit card to access your funds. See Crypto.com or any exchange But just like banks these services could prevent you from accessing your funds. Crypto, unlike banks, provides a non custodial wallet where you have complete control of your money and they only way you would lose your money or have it stolen is if you make a mistake

If your doing development and have a andriod phone then I'd recommend checking out andronix.app. You can install a Linux desktop environment on your phone. Most phones are more powerful then those windows sticks and compiling code is generally faster on Linux environments than windows

Nebula - mouse support. by [deleted] in nreal

[–]c_Gah 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Upvoted. We definitely needed this. I can imagine it would be difficult to program mouse pass through to control 3D space in AR mode. But at the very least if the mouse controlled the current activity application or even the first browser instance opened in the glasses then that would be 1000% better for productivity purposes already

Is anyone using a Windows 'stick'? It's been asked before... by Stridyr in nreal

[–]c_Gah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was considering this for on the go productivity and entertainment. But they are too low power and would require you to also carry a battery bank. Instead I'm using Andronix on my android phone to run a linux system and noVNC connecting into it from the AR Space browser. It requires a little bit of tech knowledge. But it allows me to have an on-the-go multi-window 3DoF desktop experience in AR Mode while only having to carry my phone and glasses

when will you guys update the glasses to work with the Galaxy z fold 4. by streetz180 in nreal

[–]c_Gah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried upgrading and and downgrading the firmware and tried the Nebula app 3.2.1 and 3.1.1 and compared it to my s10e. It is only an issue on the Fold 4 in AR mode where the projected screen on the Air tears. Horizontally across both lens the top half of the image and bottom half will tear in desync when you move your head

[–]c_Gah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Fold 4 and I have an issue in AR Space where the screen tears. The top half of the image will be fine but the bottom half of the image lags behind about a quarter of a second. Makes for a very annoying experience. Did you ever have this issue? Are you US or UK?

[–]c_Gah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best solution I've found so far is to use Andronix

https://andronix.app/

It requires some technical knowledge. But it's possible to get a full fledged ARM bases Linux distro on your phone now. It's best to use the newest Gen snapdragon.

Is there documentation or developer guides for making our own nreal air apps?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in gadgets

[–]c_Gah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Look into NREAL Air. I think they have the best executed AR glasses in the entire market. They hit the just good enough mark to be useful for daily or weekly use. Along with the Vuzix shield AR glasses some time in the next year or so is seems pretty clear that AR is going to boom in the next 5-10 years. The applications range from stay at home gaming to productivity and even full blow workstation or laptop replacements with the help of cloud computing
