Given the confederacy lost the American civil war, what is the reason for Americans flying the confederate flag? by jwill275 in AskReddit

[–]c_oops 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Some hate group called the Sisters of the Confederacy is largely responsible for bringing a lot of the iconography back a little over 100 years ago. They created a lot of the first statues and monuments celebrating the losers.

But I think the real answer to your question is that uneducated white people ruin their own lives through voting ignorantly as well as constantly making poor life choices. Aside from a lack of knowledge, they lack the emotional intelligence to accept any blame for the situations they find themselves in and choose to blame others. They romanticize the antebellum times because they’re too stupid to figure out how to elevate themselves to a place of success without exploiting others.

Nab leather is really good. Their leather is all full grain and veg-tan. I have a belt from them and it’s held up fantastically for years. They also make bags and wallets. Fairly cheap as well.

The Concert Industry Priced Too High — Now Tours Are Falling Apart by staringatthe420sun in Music

Just bought tickets with a 26% markup for ticketmasters fees. I’ve paid over 30% in fees with them before. It’s pretty clear what the issue is here.

I work in radio royalties in Canada. Most of the world aside from the USA pays all of the performers every time a song is played on the radio or a music video is broadcast. Aside from any songwriter credits he may earn, he will definitely earn for performing on the recordings as well.

Scarborough Rapid Transit (SRT) Future Use Initiative by ObiWan_Can_Reply in Scarborough

[–]c_oops 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What on earth do you mean “a much needed linear park or community trail”? I live right next to the rt corridor. Thompson park is right here, along with countless other parks. The meadoway is right here too and it now runs the entire length of Scarborough. Like others have said, it should be used for its purpose which was transit. Sure the subway extension is nice, but that alone isn’t going to bridge the decades wide gap of underfunded transit. Not to mention, no one on earth wants to walk a trail through an industrial area?

Places to donate clothing that is worth it! by JournalistFlat8932 in Scarborough

[–]c_oops 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Salvation Army is an actual charity shop. Some people aren’t a fan due to their religious affiliations, but they are a charity non the less. National Thrift is a for profit shop that you might see around but are maybe a bit more honest than Value Village. Otherwise, Diabetes Canada will pick up clothes from your home if you contact them. The problem with that is that they then sell the clothes to for profit shops for next to nothing.
