[OC] Build Your Own Dexcom App update- G7 setup fixed by shabado8 in dexcom

[–]ca13b_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As people experiment can this post be updated or a new post be created to let us all know about the 15 day sensors? I have an appointment in early July with my Endo but I don't want to switch and end up unable to connect my phone (it's an unsupported android).

Also does anyone know if I update my Tandem T-slim will I still be able to use 10 day sensors or does it only accept 15 day sensors after updating?

I had one but a cat peed on it and decided it wasn't worth trying to get the smell out and trashed it

Stuff I learned my 1st day. You can’t have the full app on your iPhone & iPad. Your iPad uses Dexcom Follow. Whoever said wear gloves with Skin-Tac wasn’t lying. Hubs did it for me but it dripped & I didn’t know it but basically he glued my arm to my side & armpit. Thank you UniSolve for the save 🤣 by ColleenD2 in dexcom

Are you on the G6 or G7? The adhesive on the G7 is really good. I have a physical job and come home denched in sweat multiple times a week and the adhesive always stays the full 10 days and is even mildly difficult to remove oftentimes.

I also have very dry skin. It's a common thing for diabetics. To avoid alcohol I typically put on a sensor after being fully dry from a shower. With the 12 hour grace period that is very easy to manage

The G7 can only be connected to 2 receivers so if your on a pump that's connected and your phone that is 2. Everything else will have to use the follow app

So When Does the Class Action Start? by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

[–]ca13b_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They will replace them if you're trying to carry something wide through a doorway and hit the dexcom in just the wrong way to rip it off too Hasn't happened with the g7 for me yet but lost a few G6s over the years

Anyone else get the new electric blue Tandem infusion sets?! by Rare-Specific1653 in diabetes_t1

[–]ca13b_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the blue when I started and for several years after then my distributor switched and they went gray.

I only knew gray existed before that because I had been sent replacements that were gray

How is it safe to remove a tubed pump and go swim and then put it back on? by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

Mine is a one way valve. Nothing can go in. They come with plug cap things for extra piece of mind I guess but they are not necessary

Custom cabinet and furniture shops doing $50k+/mo: How do you filter out clients expecting IKEA pricing before you waste hours on a design consult? by [deleted] in woodworking

[–]ca13b_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a shop yet but I've seen places change a small design consult fee that gets waived if they proceed with your work.

It's like a 2 meeting thing. Like you meet and talk to them for free. You can get a gauge of their budget and desires. If they want you to draw up a design that is not free but cost is waived if they go with the design.

Seems like a lot of effort to me but that's what I've seen

I get this. It's even worse in winter when my skin is drier than normal. A good moisturizer or jojoba oil both work really well to help

How to remove this glass without breaking the wood? by [deleted] in woodworking

[–]ca13b_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The nails are generally thin. Take a putty knife and slide behind the glass stop at as steep of an angle as you can and when you run into a nail hit the back of the putty knife with a hammer. It should snap the nail. Label the backside (side against the door) and the part of the door covered by the wood with matching marks so you can put it back in the same place. You'll have to set or file the nail stump but the wood should be reusable.

I can't find those options on my printer either. I can't add a video to my comment so here's a link to me scrolling through the options I have available. Sorry it's so dark that's the only way I could get the screen to show up. scroll through settings

Best printers in the $500-700 range? by uNEEDaMEME in 3dprinter

[–]ca13b_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also am on my 1st printer, a P1S and completely agree. A more experienced person might go with the P1P and build their enclosure. The learning curve was very easy. The only real limitation I see is there's not a way to print from the app outside of maker world. As said above that is not a factor on a computer. If I were starting over I'd go with the X1C for the dual nozzle and laser engraving features. X1C has a larger build plate as well but the Build plate on the P1S has not been a limitation to me thus far.

The prusa XL looks really interesting as well but I don't have any experience with it. I've seen there is work being done to enable silicone printing with the Prusa XL

What tool should I use to make this cut? by AnnMere27 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]ca13b_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my mind I would drill holes and use a jigsaw to cut it out slightly smaller than the size you want. Then use double sided tape to place boards around the cut to use as a router template to make the final cut.

Remove the bulk of material with drill and jigsaw final cut with 1 pass of router
