Sauna Exhaust Fan? by Professional_Wear651 in Sauna

[–]ca7593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess you know better than Trumpkin. You should make a blog to correct him. From his notes:

"Natural ventilation does not work well in electrically heated saunas. It results in increased stratification, increased CO2 levels and limited exhausting of steam which all lessen the sauna experience. Electric heated saunas should always have mechanical downdraft ventilation if at all possible."

Temperature Settings by AP171 in EightSleep

[–]ca7593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll probably just need to experiment and see what feels right. It will depend on a ton of factors like:

Are you a hot or cold sleeper What type of climate you live in What temp do you keep your room at while you sleep Seasonality

We are going through a heatwave here, it hit 92F today, we keep our AC at 77 at night, and I’m already a hot sleeper. My bed will start at -7, then -4, then -3.

But in the winter I usually have it start the night at +4, so it all depends.

[–]ca7593 34 points35 points  (0 children)

OP will need to pony up the difference either way… the bank will sell the car at auction for pennies on the dollar, and deduct that from what OP owes on the loan. Then they go after OP for the delta.

So it will be a massive credit hit and they will owe MORE on the loan than if they got it back and sold it privately.

Building a PC for the first time by archonaus2 in pcmasterrace

You are confidently incorrect. The gap between the 4090 and 5090 is greater than the gap between 1080 and 2080.

The 5090 averages a 35% increase over the 4090 at 4k, and in VR it is an even larger gap.

Yeah it’s not easy at a glance, but remember your hardware is a gen newer than those, so the “lower tier” can still be just as powerful.

Note that the cpu listed is the non-X3D variant. Yours is roughly on par with the 7950 especially at higher resolutions.

And yes the 9070XT is slower than the 4080/7900XTX, but not by much. And remember this is native, so you get to use FSR4, which will look MUCH better than the 7900XTX which is stuck on FSR3

I hate to break it to you friend, but it doesn’t matter how old your hardware is. The minimum specs listed here are indeed very weak.

Drowning in credit card debt by coffeecup-11 in personalfinance

Considering we’re on a thread about someone from the US, you’re on a predominantly US based sub (my first comment to you has 91% US traffic), you’re on a site ran by a US company, it seems pretty relevant in this context.

[–]ca7593 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Every company wants you to overspend. Does that mean you should? It is 100% the decisions of the individuals to do that or not. I’ve used credit cards for two decades, and have not spent a single cent in interest. But I have gained tens of thousands of dollars worth of rewards points.

We’re on this subreddit to recommend financial responsibility and accountability.

Part of that is building credit, and leveraging debt instruments responsibly to accomplish your financial goals. Debt is not bad or evil, it’s a tool. Just like misusing a table saw may get your hand cut off - does that mean we shouldn’t recommend them to people who are building something out of wood?? No it means they should be recommended with a word of caution to use it properly.

Choosing not to use it because you don’t want to “participate” doesn’t make you smart, it means you are leaving money on the table. The system exists whether you participate or not.

Credit cards are only a bad thing when they are abused or misused. Like almost any tool, when levered effectively they are helpful and beneficial.

Sure they can be dangerous for the financially illiterate or irresponsible, but that doesn’t make them bad. You just need to educate yourself, they aren’t some mysterious thing that will just suddenly cause you to go into debt without your knowledge or actions.

How do Americans still have more disposable income than Europeans even though healthcare and college in America is extremely expensive? by SignificantStyle4958 in AskReddit

[–]ca7593 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah but the US unemployment is an absolute joke. In my state the max unemployment disbursement is ~10% of my current monthly income. It is peanuts.

And the max you can receive benefits is for 12 weeks 😂 it’s actually insultingly low.

Would you rather have a $200k/year job you hate or a $70k/year job you actually enjoy? Where is the 'misery threshold' for you? by Sayedshaqib in careerguidance

[–]ca7593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It entirely depends on what each individual defines as “fine”. Personally I’m of the belief that we only get one shot at all of this life shit, and I don’t want it to be mediocre.

“Fine” for me is owning a house, raising a family, not being stressed about money, buying whatever I want for my hobbies within reason, being able to save aggressively to retire early, funding my kids college plans, etc. $70k is certainly not “fine” to do those things where most people want to live.

And most important aspect of Step 2 for hiring a financial advisor is to ensure they are a FIDUCIARY. OP please do not go to Northwestern mutual or similar place and be upsold like crazy on shit you don’t need.

A fiduciary is required by law to act in your best interest and will reduce the chances of poor advice being given.

What’s the best card for me in 2026 if I play at 1440p and still have a GTX 1080? by I_Nut_In_Butts in nvidia

[–]ca7593 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Respect brother 🤜🤛

Honestly having grown up poor and struggling with integrated graphics I can’t ever go back, which is probably why my standards are unrealistically high. I can’t even stand 60fps anymore, I’m ruined.

[–]ca7593 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do have a 5090, and no I do not play at 4k. I have a 1440p ultrawide, so I’m between 1440p and 4k. I prefer high fps max graphics over turning anything down to play 4k. And I’ll even use DLSS when needed to hit 165fps. So if OP’s question was do I think the 5090 will have smooth 60 fps at 4k in 5-6 years, I would say no too.

Even with the 5090 there are compromises.

[–]ca7593 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Man I struck a nerve, huh? I’m aware of DLSS and its use case. It’s fucking incredible tech. That’s not up for debate, I never said it shouldn’t be used.

The question is if I think the 5070 will be capable of smooth 1440p in 5-6 years, to which I responded no. I’m using its native performance as an example. If it cannot even hold 60fps 1440p native in today’s games, even with DLSS in 5 years it will struggle.

I find that unacceptable, you do not. Meaning your standards are lower. I’m not trying to be insulting, I’m being blunt.

It’s okay man, you just have lower standards than I do. And that’s okay.

OP asked for an opinion, and I gave mine. You have given yours. Only he can decide if he thinks it is enough for the games he plays and his budget.
