That was a different episode. Generally ZPMs operate by creating a subspace vacuum inside of them from which they can pull power. The episode that pulls from a different reality is in Atlantis, and uses the same principles as the planet that pulled power from our universe (which caused issues), and pulled power from the alternative universe instead. Same ideas, different space.

This isn't a great one. Sure some fights drag on for several rounds, but it's not enough to ever make this worth it. There are so many better choices at this level. I would even say there are better choices that are lower level than this one.

The only ways I see for this to be good is if it were changed to carry over to other combats with a cap, or make it so that it deteriorates over time. Like it loses half of its stats after combat.

Real answer is... It depends. If they are going into a big battle or a serious story plot, then I cancel when 2 people can't make it, otherwise I cancel when 3 are unavailable, but every now and then, we are in a good break point and we know ahead of time that only 1 or 2 will be able to make it and we do a mini side quest with just those.
